A bitter pill: demolition notice

Israel was shattered and broken. The News he had just received from home was a bitter pill to swallow. It felt like something was stuck in his throat. "But why, why do big people always find way to take advantage of the poor?" There are better ways to do things, civilized way rather he thought to himself.

Few months ago he had somehow managed to complete the renovation of their home. It wasn't big or extravagant, but then it was decent enough. He had given his parents a beautiful and comfortable home, better than what he grew up in. He felt proud, he felt like he could explode with the blessings and praise from his parents.

Moses tap on his shoulder brought him back to reality. What's wrong, Israel? You just zoned out after the call. Hope all is well at home?

"All is not well, it was Keziah my sister that called, she said our home and few others on our street are being demolished, leaving them stranded without any prior notice. They're claiming the land belongs to them. From what she said, there won't be any compensation or what so ever, Israel replied

I am just confused. It hasn't been up to seven months since i renovated the home. This is a land my father bought and built on it before even marrying, so where's the news of it belonging to them coming from? He added.

I am clocking out now. There's no time to even take leave of absence. I need to go home, pick up few things and travel home while think of where my family will stay tonight and the way forward He said.

Moses responded, Alright, i will let HR know. Just keep me posted whatever be the case and if there's any way i can be of help.

Thanks man. Will call you soon, Israel said.
