I got a recommendation regarding this movie from a friend of mine who is a real Anime freak, so I decided to give it a t try. The story portrays the role of Tanjiro Kamado—who is happens to be the main character—alongside his companions who are Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke. Right from the start, you can feel the weight that Tanjiro carries—having lost his family to demons and carrying his younger sister, who herself has been transformed into one. Despite his pain, Tanjiro's determination and kindness makes him a character who just can't help but put your interest into.
On the infinity train they meet Kyojuro Rengoku, the flame Hashira, who along the line becomes a figure of focus. Rengoku is cheerful, disciplined and incredibly powerful. Part of what I like about him is that he has this commanding presence that makes you believe nothing could ever shake him, yet he is also warm enough to encourage the younger demon slayers. Together, they set out to uncover the mystery behind the many passengers disappearing aboard the train.
Things suddenly take a dark turn when they confront Enmu, a demon with the ability to manipulate dreams. One thing that I found quite astonishing about this was how personal the illusions were—Tanjiro dreaming of his lost family was both heartbreaking and powerful. Waking up meant letting go of the only chance he had to see them again. I could only imagine how painful this must have been for him. Each of the characters had their own battles within the dream world, and it revealed so much about their personalities and vulnerabilities.
The movie did quite an amazing job in mixing action with emotion. The animation is impressive in terms of the intense battle scenes, blazing flames, haunting dream sequences that looked beyond what most TV anime usually delivers. The sound design and voice acting also contributed a great deal to my interest in the film, every scream, laugh and quiet moment had the different ways they make the audience feel.
Just when it feels like the danger is over after defeating Enmu, the film delivers what no one saw coming: the arrival of Akaza, an Upper rank demon. Things turn drastically within seconds as a result of this development. Rengoku's battle against Akaza was one of the most spectacular fights I've ever seen in anime. What made it interesting wasn't just the choreography behind it, but the heart. Rengoku wasn't just fighting for himself, he was fighting to protect everyone else even at the cost of his own life.
This moment is was one of my favorites in the film. It's not just about the great display of swordsmanship or defeating monsters; it's about the human spirit, sacrifice, and carrying forward the will of those who came before. Tanjiro's final words to Akaza after the battle, filled with anger and respect for Rengoku was one of the most memorable parts of the film. To most people this is just an another action anime film, but it's much more than that for me. It's a story about grief, courage, and what it means to keep moving forward even when the odds are against you. Really enjoyed watching and believe others who haven't seen it will enjoy it too.
