Life comes in stages. There was once a stage whereby other people were responsible over us; be it our parents or other people that served as our guardians. After that, there comes a stage where we we responsible for ourselves. But it doesn't end there. There now comes a stage where we are not just responsible for ourselves alone but for other people as well.
In this life we are not meant to leave for just ourselves. Whenever God does something good in our lives or commits something into our hands it should not just be for our benefit only. Responsibility is still not totally complete if it's for ourselves alone.
Whenever we make prayers to God in expectation for something He would never come down from heaven to present it to us. What He does is to send men to bring it our way. That is how God can also send us also to meet the needs of other people when they call on Him for a need.

The people in the early church gave liberally without hesitation whenever they came across people in their midst that were in need. Of a truth, the is how the body of Christ is suppose to behave to one another. Not only those in the church but people also without.
