Rock Classics - Edition 38
Time for another issue of Rock Classics! My problem was I did not keep track and forgot to organize this series by linking all previous 38 #RockClassics posts - now I am trying to find out which Classics I missed aka I did not write about yet. I am pretty sure I did not cover the Starships yet - so let us give it a go. There are two songs that created interest and still have their place in my ears. One single I bought when they were Jefferson Starship as a vinyl single:

The other one was an investment into an album (also vinyl - this black thing before even the CD was invented!) including "We Built This City" (entry song of this post!).
On to the facts! I have to be honest I only found them in the 1980ies after they changes name from Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship and probably missed a lot or can not judge their early times! They even are older than me - a miracle!
So Jefferson Airplane, later Jefferston Starship, then Starship (most of the following comes from Wikipedia is an American rock band from San Francisco, California that evolved out of the group Jefferson Airplane (actually - the same group!) following the departure of bassist Jack Casady and guitarist Jorma Kaukonen.
Between 1974 and 1984, they released eight gold or platinum selling studio albums, and had nine top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band went through several major changes in personnel and genres through the years while retaining the same Jefferson Starship name. The band name was retired in 1985, but it was picked up again in the early 1990s by a revival of the group led by Paul Kantner, which has continued following his death in 2016.
Listen to some more of their historic works - the first might be one of the most successful ones commercially!
