Hello #PEPT!
I have a lot of interest in decentralization, p2p architectures, and freedom. In the end, thats the main thing: controling your data.
BitChat came out this year, totally peer to peer, anonymous, and cryptographed with Noise Protocol. Their infrastructure? Bluetooth Low Energy and Gossip Protocols.
I downloaded it, and it has a great UI (the correct link is bitchat.free or github, anything else is likely a scam), directly inspired by IRC chats.
Features that catched my eyes: - No config, download and start using - Default public channel - Private channels with or without password - Message retransmission (maybe limited to trusted or verified peers?) - Edit your nick any time - Verify or Favorite people - Block people - Terminal font - Great UI/UX
That's it: This is an invite for y'all to get BitChat so we all can explore this new terrain.
Perhaps this will be the start of a new era for local communities...
