Just imagine we wake up one day to a devastating news popping up on every screen that we have an apocalypse happening in 24hours time and it will be the end of the world, like a zombie outbreak and it is out of control and everyone's life is at stake just like in the movies, what would I do? First of all, I would enter a panic mode even if I don't want to, the news is too sudden and I need to think first about what to do, it has never happened before and we neither have the experience nor the survival instincts except the one we do see in movies and most of the time people do run helter skelter while trying to figure out what to do, some will start packing up, some leaving town while others would just give up and wait for death to come knocking.
First thing first, I have to calm myself down, then start thinking of the basic things to pack up, things needed for survival, tools, food and also partners with the same goal "to survive". With the few apocalypse movies I have watched and the few things I have seen, there is no way you can survive it alone, being a loner in such situation is more dangerous even though it is a good option at some point. a loner gets to make a single decision whether to stay in a location for certain time or to leave, get to manage his survival supplies like food and water water etc, know when to fight or when to run but won't have anyone to watch his back when danger is near. So in this case, I will start making a list of who to call, if they are safe, if we can link up and where to meet.
The main reason is to know their decision at that point, if they have some survival strategy, how do they plan to stay alive, if they have a secure location, are we staying behind or will always be on the move, who are they bringing along etc. But if it is a case where the apocalypse is a non survivable, all I need to do is to make a 24 hour list of things I wish to do before I die, just like a bucket list, it will be easier to fulfil because everyone will be at the giving up stage since everything they have will be lost at the end of the day and they will be either scared at that point or have their last feast, I trust my people, it would turn into one last big party.
