No solo es mi lugar favorito de la isla... Está lleno de belleza e historia.[Esp/Eng]

**¡Hola, bellas personas que conforman esta comunidad!** Espero que se encuentren bien, este post lo hice con motivo de participar en la primera gran iniciativa de esta grandiosa comunidad.  Seré sincera, cuando leí por primera vez la iniciativa, por mi mente pasó una gran cantidad de lugares, desde playas, castillos, calles, centros comerciales y naturaleza en general. Ante este devenir de pensamientos, reflexioné que no hay lugar que no ame de la isla. La isla de Margarita es mi hogar, donde nací, crecí y donde está la gente que más quiero, por lo que para mí resultó algo difícil elegir un solo lugar como mi favorito. Al final determiné que no se trata solo de “cuál es mi lugar favorito”, sino de cómo me siento cuando estoy ahí, que hace que el tiempo se detenga y contenga la respiración, que me llene de alegría y nostalgia, que me abrume de hermosas sensaciones y que me haga pensar “Quiero volver aquí, una y otra vez”.    Al final, elegí el lugar que me permite contemplar lo bello de la isla de Margarita, que contiene el recuerdo de los sueños y esperanzas de lo que estuvieron mucho antes que nosotros. Este lugar es el **Fortín de la Galera**, con las hermosas vistas que nos otorga. Este es un fuerte militar, antiguo e histórico, que se encuentra ubicado en el pueblo de Juan griego. Este fortín es de las grandes obras que nos dejó la arquitectura colonial de siglo XVII, con sus impresionantes torres de gran altura y gruesos muros de piedra. Aunque hoy en día, es el lugar ideal para contemplar la isla y aprender un poco de historia, su propósito original y motivo de su construcción eran muy distintos. Fue creado con el objetivo de proteger a los habitantes de la isla, a nuestros antepasados isleños, de piratas y saqueadores. Con sus torres altas y cañones cargados, se encargó de defender las vidas de los isleños. Y aunque hoy en día es una de las atracciones turísticas más importantes de la isla, aún guarda el recuerdo y la memoria de quienes pusieron sus vidas y su libertad en esos muros de piedra.      (aquí mi pelo hizo una aparición 🤣) Este sitio lo adoró, principalmente, por la vista privilegiada que concede, que permite bendecir los ojos con vistas al mar Caribe, playas y demás alrededores de la isla. Este es un sitio que me llena de paz y tranquilidad, que me transporta a tiempos no tan sencillos, pero con cierto encanto, que mantiene presente lo que no debe ser olvidado. El Fortín fue testigo de eventos cumbres de la historia de la isla, como el sanguinario combate de las fuerzas realistas comandadas por el General Morillo contra las fuerzas independentistas del Coronel Fermín, quienes se resguardaban en el Fortín, en una batalla campal de fuego contra fuego. Siendo prueba de la masacre, el lago que se encuentra al pie de Fortín, conocido actualmente como la Laguna de Los Mártires, cuya historia es contada a través de la palabra hablada a los turistas y visitantes. Sin duda, el Fortín de la Galera, no solo nos ofrece belleza, sino que también evoca memorias que no deben ser olvidadas. Simplemente, un lugar al que vale totalmente la pena ir, un gran lugar para admirar, aprender y relajarse un rato, con los atardeceres más bellos que se puedan encontrar. I'll be honest, when I first read about the initiative, a lot of places crossed my mind, from beaches, castles, streets, shopping centres and nature in general. Faced with this flood of thoughts, I reflected that there is no place on the island that I don't love. Margarita Island is my home, where I was born, grew up and where the people I love most are, so it was difficult for me to choose just one place as my favourite. In the end, I decided that it's not just about "which is my favourite place", but how I feel when I'm there, which makes time stand still and takes my breath away, fills me with joy and nostalgia, overwhelms me with beautiful sensations and makes me think "I want to come back here, again and again".    In the end, I chose the place that allows me to contemplate the beauty of Margarita Island, which holds the memory of the dreams and hopes of those who were there long before us. This place is the **Galera Fort**, with its beautiful views. This is an ancient and historic military fort located in the village of Juan Griego. This fort is one of the great works left to us by 17th-century colonial architecture, with its impressive high towers and thick stone walls. Although today it is the ideal place to contemplate the island and learn a little history, its original purpose and reason for construction were very different. It was created with the aim of protecting the island's inhabitants, our island ancestors, from pirates and looters. With its tall towers and loaded cannons, it was responsible for defending the lives of the islanders. And although today it is one of the island's most important tourist attractions, it still holds the memory and remembrance of those who put their lives and freedom on the line within those stone walls.      (Here my hair appeared. 🤣) I loved this place, mainly because of the privileged view it offers, which allows you to feast your eyes on the Caribbean Sea, beaches and other surroundings of the island. This is a place that fills me with peace and tranquillity, transporting me to times that were not so easy, but which had a certain charm, keeping alive what should not be forgotten. The Fortín witnessed key events in the island's history, such as the bloody battle between the royalist forces commanded by General Morillo and the independence forces of Colonel Fermín, who took refuge in the Fortín, in a pitched battle of fire against fire. Evidence of the massacre can be found in the lake at the foot of the fort, now known as Laguna de Los Mártires, whose history is recounted to tourists and visitors. Without a doubt, the Fortín de la Galera not only offers us beauty, but also evokes memories that should not be forgotten. Simply put, it is a place that is totally worth visiting, a great place to admire, learn and relax for a while, with the most beautiful sunsets you can find.
