This anime is called **Angels of Death**, a psychological thriller that mixes suspense, horror, and action with a touch of philosophy in a context of survival, redemption, and madness.
**Can you imagine going to the hospital and waking up in a basement straight out of a nightmare, full of lunatics and psychopathic killers who want to kill you?** Well, that's what happens to our protagonist, **Rachel Gardner**, a 13-year-old girl who had gone to the hospital for therapy after witnessing a murder.
There, after exchanging a few strange words with her doctor, she fell asleep and woke up in a basement, on whose walls there was a rather "existentialist" message. It questioned Rachel's own identity and ended by asking her if she was an angel or a sacrifice. Rachel just wanted to find her parents, so after reading the message, she would leave and get into an elevator that was there, without imagining that this would be the beginning of her hunt. Upon entering the elevator, a voice would announce that the woman on the top floor, that is, Rachel, would be a sacrifice and that the respective residents of the upper floors should begin preparations to kill her.

Rachel would end up being the prey of the killers on the upper floors. On one of those levels, she would form an alliance with one of the killers, **Isaac 'Zack' Foster**, a young man covered from head to toe in bandages, who used a scythe as a murder weapon. He would be treated as a traitor after climbing to a floor above his own and killing another killer who had Rachel cornered, but before being struck by the scythe, he would break Rachel's mind, thus defining Rachel's actions for the following episodes. From then on, Rachel and Zack would form an alliance. Rachel would help Isaac get out of there, and in return, Isaac promised her something sinister.

This is a dark and somewhat claustrophobic anime, with moments of tension and suspense and blood everywhere; even so, it is not an anime that I find particularly grotesque or anything like that. The curious thing is that it has quite philosophical and existentialist nuances, very marked on each level of the building, questioning existence, as well as the concept of life, death and redemption, as well as unprocessed guilt. These are key points in Rachel and Isaac's background, as well as the reasons behind their ways of being and dark pasts.
The murderers on the upper levels, crazy and irrational, seem to guard their level while waiting for Rachel, as a kind of implicit test or trial, so Zack will have to face them to ensure Rachel's survival and his own.

Their unusual dynamic sets the tone for each episode as they make their way through the levels of the building. The building, which seems to refer to a kind of purgatory, aims to atone for sins and address a direct confrontation with what has marked their lives and they refuse to face. As they seek atonement from each other, will they succeed?

This anime has 16 episodes in total. Each episode takes place on a different floor of the building with killers of all kinds, from the worst kind of misfits to lunatics who seem to have their heads in another world.

Este anime se llama **Angels of Death**, es un thriller psicológico, que mezcla suspenso, horror y acción con un toque de filosofía en un contexto de supervivencia, redención y locura.
**¿Te imaginas ir al hospital y despertar en un sótano sacado de una pesadilla, lleno de lunáticos y asesinos psicópatas que quieren matarte?**, pues eso, es lo que le sucede a nuestra protagonista, **Rachel Gardner**, una joven de 13 años que había ido al hospital para recibir terapia, tras presenciar un asesinato.
¿Allí, tras cruzar unas raras palabras con su doctor, quedó dormida y despierta en un sótano, en cuyas paredes había un mensaje bastante "existencialista"? Que cuestionaba la identidad de la propia Rachel. Y que culminaba preguntándole si ella era un ángel o un sacrificio. Rachel solo quería hallar a sus padres, por lo que, tras leer el mensaje, saldría y se subiría a un ascensor que allí se encontraba, sin imaginar que ese sería el inicio de su cacería. Al subir al ascensor, una voz anunciaría que la mujer del último piso, es decir, Rachel, sería un sacrificio y que los respectivos residentes de los pisos superiores deberían empezar a hacer los preparativos para matarla.

Rachel terminaría siendo la presa de los asesinos que se encontraban en los pisos superiores, en uno de esos niveles, terminaría formando una alianza con uno de los asesinos **Isaac “Zack” Foster**, un joven cubierto de pies a cabeza con vendas, que usaba como arma de asesinato una guadaña. Quien sería tratado de traidor tras subir a un piso superior al suyo y matara a otro asesino que tenía a Rachel acorralada, pero este, antes de ser atravesado por la guadaña, quebraría la mente de Rachel, definiendo así su actuar por los siguientes episodios. A partir de ahí, Rachel y Zack, formarían una alianza. Rachel ayudaría a Isaac a salir de ahí y a cambio Isaac le prometió algo siniestro.

Este es un anime oscuro y algo claustrofóbico, con momentos de tensión y suspenso y sangre por doquier; aun así, no es un anime que me parezca particularmente grotesco ni nada por el estilo. Lo curioso es que tiene matices bastante filosóficos y existencialistas, muy marcados en cada nivel del edificio, cuestionando la existencia, así como el concepto de la vida, la muerte y la redención, así como la culpa no procesada. Estos son puntos de enclave del trasfondo de Rachel e Isaac, así como las razones detrás de sus formas de ser y oscuros pasados.
Los asesinos de los niveles superiores, locos e irracionales, parecen custodiar su nivel a la espera de Rachel, como especie de prueba o juicio implícito, por lo que Zack tendrá que enfrentarse a ellos, para garantizar la supervivencia de Rachel y la suya propia.

La relación de Rachel con Zack es bastante compleja y muy psicológica, yendo más allá de una alianza por sobrevivir. Ambos, a pesar de actuar muy diferentes, siendo Isaac impulsivo y Rachel fría (lo que, en ciertos momentos, da para escenas graciosas), han vivido en el trauma y el dolor, y terminan encontrando en el otro un compañero, pero también un motivo de vivir. Su dinámica inusual marca la atmósfera de cada episodio, mientras recorren los niveles del edificio. El edificio, que parece referir a una especie de purgatorio, tiene como objetivo expiar los pecados y abordar una confrontación directa con aquello que ha marcado sus vidas y se niegan a enfrentar. Al mismo tiempo que buscan del otro la expiación, ¿lo lograrán?
