This series starts with its introduction in episode 5 of season 1 of What if...?, one of the many alternate realities in the Marvel universe. In this reality, the world was devastated by a virus that turned people into zombies, including classic Marvel heroes such as Captain America and Iron Man. This virus originated in the quantum realm when Hank Pym went to rescue his wife Janet Van Dyne. But it was too late, as she had contracted a virus that corrupted her brain and turned her into a zombie. Hank is infected, and they both return to Earth as zombies, attacking and infecting Scott Lang, but his daughter, Hope, manages to escape. Just one bite was enough to turn the Avengers into zombies, which aggravated the spread, as the virus still allowed them to use their powers and abilities. In other words, no “normal” person would be able to stop an Avenger or any other hero from biting them. In the end, the world was destroyed and only a few survivors remain.

So her zombie version just wants to take over what's left of the world and maybe expand to others. No one has it easy; of course, an innate quality of heroes is to never give up on trying to solve problems.

The series is explosive, dramatic, and action-packed. A lot happens in a single episode, which keeps the viewer's attention. The battles between heroes and zombie heroes are very good, although they are fast-paced. In general, all the heroes we've seen in the Marvel movies appear, even those from years ago, such as Blade, who was a great character. The series is bloody and has a dark, sad, and desolate tone, but it's not that raw for a universe infested with zombies. I would say it's dark because of the constant graphic violence, even though it's animated.
Despite the “end of the world” atmosphere, the series is funny, with several characters serving as “comic relief,” such as the red guardian, who made me laugh from the very first moment. One moment he was giving a speech to his daughters, all poetic and full of struggle and hope, and the next he was talking about his “predestined” fight against Captain America, even though he was a zombie and only half his body. Because Bucky in What If cut him in half, ha ha ha. That battle was very good and funny. The Red Guardian saying that songs would be sung about his “epic battle” and Captain America using his shield to roll around, how funny! He, along with other characters, lighten the mood and make you laugh, even if only for a moment.

Another character I loved was Ikaris from the Eternals. He had literally been carrying the burden of stopping the spread of the zombie virus for years, locked in an eternal and endless struggle between him and Captain Marvel. In other words, Ikaris went to carry the Marvel universe. What a tremendous character! I would have liked to see more of his battle with Captain Marvel zombie.
Overall, the series was good, with several moments full of epic action and many others full of sacrifice. Some heroes met ugly deaths they didn't deserve. But that has always been the harsh reality of the comics on which this series is based. Now, the series has details, just for pure theorizing, and that is: How were some heroes infected? I mean, even though several are human, they have powers or magical abilities that many assume should be able to fight the virus. But in the comics, they basically skip over many of the heroes' abilities and powers because the idea is to see your “classic heroes in zombie form,” that's how I see it. The other issue is that certain heroes and even villains were “nerfed” for the plot. Some of them are among DC's strongest heroes, and I felt they were very weak compared to how strong they really are. But I think that depends on the version of that hero in that world, even though they skipped over several things.

The series only has four episodes, so you feel like the story goes by too fast or that the fights were short. Otherwise, the series is very good, the animation is very good, and the story, even with its flaws, is quite entertaining. For four episodes, I think it's worth watching.

La serie es explosiva, dramática y con mucha acción. En un solo capítulo pasan un montón de cosas, por lo que mantiene la atención del espectador. Las batallas: Héroes versus Héroes Zombies son muy buenos, aunque son rápidas. En general, aparecen todos los héroes que hemos visto en las películas de Marvel, incluso las de hace años atrás, como Blade quien fue a dar aura, es decir, es un gran personaje. La serie es sangrienta y maneja un tono oscuro, triste y desolado, pero no es tan cruda, para un universo infestado de zombies. Diría que oscura por la constante violencia gráfica, aunque sea animada.
A pesar del ambiente “fin del mundo”, la serie es graciosa, con varios personajes que sirven de “alivio cómico”, como el guardián rojo, quien me hizo reír desde el primer instante. En un momento daba un discurso a sus hijas, todo poético y cargado de lucha y esperanza, y al otro momento hablaba de su “predestinada” lucha contra el capitán América, aunque este fuera zombie y solo fuera la mitad de su cuerpo. Porque Bucky en What’s if lo pico por la mitad, ja, ja, ja. Esa batalla fue muy buena y graciosa. Otro personaje que me encantó fue Ikaris de los eternals. Él literalmente llevaba años cargado con el peso de detener la propagación del virus zombies, enfrascado en una lucha eterna y sin fin entre él y la capitana Marvel. Es decir, Ikaris fue a cargar el universo de Marvel. Tremendo personaje, me hubiera gustado ver más de su batalla con Capitana Marvel zombie.
En general, la serie fue buena, hubo varios momentos llenos de acción épica y muchos otros llenos de sacrificio. Algunos héroes tuvieron muertes feas que no merecían. Pero esa siempre ha sido la crudeza de los cómics en los que se basa esta serie. Ahora bien, la serie tiene detalles, solo para puro teorizar, y es él: ¿Cómo fueron infectados algunos héroes? Es decir, aunque varios sean humanos, tienen poderes o habilidades mágicas que muchos suponen, deberían poder contra el virus. Pero en los cómics básicamente se saltan muchas habilidades y poderes de los héroes porque la idea es ver a tus “héroes clásicos en formato zombie”, así es como yo lo veo. La otra cuestión es que ciertos héroes y hasta villanos fueron “nerfeados” para la trama. Pues algunos de estos, son de los héroes más fuertes de dc y los sentí muy débiles, comparado con lo fuertes que son en realidad. Pero creo que eso depende de la versión de ese héroe en ese mundo, aunque se saltaron varias cosas.

La serie solo tiene 4 capítulos, por lo que uno siente que la historia pasa muy rápido o que las peleas fueron cortas. De resto, la serie está muy bien, la animación es muy buena y la historia, aun con fallos, es bastante entretenida. Para ser 4 capítulos, considero que vale la pena ver.
