Prelude Good day to all, hope that all of you are having a good week so far and having many memorable and interesting battles in Splinterlands. In today's sharing, I will be sharing on an interesting match that I had just today whereby it is a low mana match and together with a rule set that limit the amount of available cards that I can select onto the battle and also Holy Protection, having one more card in the lineup actually mattered.

I will be breaking it down in today's sharing so that we can all learn about how to have higher survivability in a match with 1 more card in the lineup and subsequently win the match.

Ruleset: Need for Speed And Holy Protection Mana Limit: 15

Selection Analysis In today's matchup, we have almost every splinter available for selection but due to the need for speed ruleset, I decided to go with Earth Splinter to get more attacks from the execute ability coming from the archon which is important in low mana matches where card selection amount and choices is a little lacking in order to fit everything in.

To lead the lineup, I call upon Kaylia Silverleaf, whom is an earth splinter archon and giving additional boost to the elf bloodline with the ability execute. With the need for speed ruleset, it is actually making it tough for selection as not many cards are available. So in terms of tank, I put up Sacrosanct Shanker to fill up the shoes as tank hoping that it being an elf, it might be able to net me additional attack. Next in the lineup in Thanalorian Blade that is able strike on cards on low health with its opportunity ability and this is exceptionally good with execute since they are looking for the same kind of target. And because I do have a mana remain, I decided to put Halfling Refugee in the backline in case opponent has sneak cards that can wreck me from the back. And that's essentially what I had.

Opponent used Marlai Singariel, water archon which gives +1 magic attack and usually when I see this, it signals me that there is definitely some magic attackers from my opponent and they wanted this boost in magic attack. And for the tank, opponent set it up to be Halfling Refugee which is an awesome choice as it has high stats and serves well as a meat shield. And the only card that followed is Shock Trooper which is going to hit hard with its high magic attack. Just a simple 2 card setup by my opponent that hoped to zap me card by card.

This is 2 very different kind of strategy selected with mine the more defensive while my opponent one being more offensive. And now we transit over to the round by round synopsis.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - A relative quiet round because of Holy Protection that helped to cushion the impact of attack and on my end, only Sacrosanct Shanker get divine shield removed while both cards on my opponent side already absorbed one damage and no longer had divine shield.

Round 2 - With no more divine shield, Sacrosanct Shanker was vulnerable and right at the start, Shock Trooper just cleared her out with that one blast. No further damages felt under than Thanalorian Blade taking a hit and divine shield clears.

Round 3 - Not many cards remain as my side added pressure on my opponent by taking out Halfling Refugee. Now I have a big unknown because Halfling Refugee already had 2 turns clocked the weary ability it carries. I will need to outlast Shock Trooper to win.

Round 4 and 5, Thanalorian Blade get taken out in round 4 but suddenly Halfling Refugee woke up and smash home to obtain the victory for my side. A pleasant win though it was kind of nervy.

Battle Summary I think this is a match that we definitely have some things to learn from. To be honest, it I only had 2 cards fielded, my opponent would have won the match instead of me. And now the winning piece of the match up is essentially that extra Halfling Refugee that was there to cushion the impact and being there in the lineup which was key. And even so when we have holy protection because every additional card on the field meant an additional card with divine shield which will block my opponent from victory.

Thinking to use a lean lineup when playing with Holy Protection ruleset? Better think again.

Wrap Up Thank you all for dropping by the post and walking through with me on the sharing on this match and learning together with me on how to do better in various rulesets and also card selection.
