Prelude
Good day to all, hope that all of you are having a good week so far and having many memorable and interesting battles in Splinterlands. With Frontier Format coming in strong, I guess many of us are also trying your best to get daily 3x rewards and competition is getting harder with some players obtaining foundation cards that are not from the campaign. I myself also obtained some, so today I will be featuring a normal ranked battle which I used a foundation card that was obtained from reward claim.

This is the foundation card that will be in the match today - Mystic Scaleweaver

To me, this card is similar to that of Nerissa Tridawn from Chaos Legion with 1 less magic attack at level 1 but comes with a slow ability. Looks really strong in terms of magic output especially when used with the Water Splinter Archon from foundation that gives an additional +1 magic. Will do well when used in Frontier Format I am rather certain.

So let's see how the match turn out.

Selection Analysis
We have 3 splinters available for selection - Life, Water and Dragon. Medium high mana and needing quite a fair bit of damage output to be effective in such a ruleset. I not sure what was in my mind at that moment, took the plunge, used the Water Splinter Foundation Archon and just hope I can put this newly obtained Foundation card into use.

So here is my selection of the lineup. Similar to last week sharing, this match I will be using the foundation archon, Marlai Singariel which will boost magic attacks by 1. I know I need a good tank so I call upon Commander Slade that can help reduce opponent melee attack upon being hit. 2nd in the lineup is Steepe Stalker that can be brought to the front upon Slade falls and hits for 2 range attack each round. Next will be the Mystic Scaleweaver whom will upgrade to 3 magic attack as boosted by the Archon and also gives us a speed advantage by slowing down opponent lineup by 1 speed. Last in the lineup is the high risk high reward card Shock Trooper whom will hit for 5 magic attack and probably gonna make it really tough for my opponent.

On my opponent end, my opponent used Dragon Splinter Conclave Arcana Archon Sheng Xiao which is really powerful because it can give Poison Burst and Corrosive Ward to 2 cards. This poison burst is like a hidden poison bomb that will 100% inflict poison to the attacker that kills that card and 50% chance for adjacent card to attacker for poison. This alone is a headache to handle. Tank that my opponent used is Leolin Sifu that strikes for 3 melee and if there is shield, it will deal 1 more damage if facing shield or under damage reducing abilities. Next is Thunderous Herald which have the same ability as Slade but being a magic attack, it is an almost sure hit unless card that it hits has Phase. Next is a taunt card Bellowmancer that has super nice stats with 5 armour and 8 health that deals 2 magic attack. Last in the lineup is Caravan Guard that gives Triage to opponent lineup backline.

Honestly, it look a little scary to face such a lineup that my opponent had. Really strong and well thought of in terms of disabling my lineup while having some form of heal to keep backline safe. Looks rather impossible to win, but I was surprised by the outcome. Let's get right on to the round by round synopsis.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Interestingly, opponent gave Poison Burst to Leolin Sifu and Thunderous Herald, I would have given to Bellowmancer since there is a taunt but doesn't matter. So thanks to that, we manage to clear out Bellowmancer in round 1 with the crazy 8 damage from my magic attackers. Thunderous Herald struck Slade while my Slade struck Leolin Sifu and both Sifu and Slade got 1 melee attack reduced.

Round 2 - Sifu was killed by magic and poison burst went onto Mystic Scaleweaver which affected Shock Trooper and both were poisoned. Slade was struck again by Thunderous Herald, so melee attack drop to 1. We are still going strong and putting alot of pressure on my opponent. As long Thunderous Herald, we should be good for the match.

Round 3 - Because Shock Trooper was already in poisoned state, the poison burst when killing Thunderous Herald did not affect him and we just pull through to secure the win!

Battle Summary
This is interesting, what I thought could be a super tough opponent to crack with a combo and what more a very strong Archon somehow got defeated by my lineup which had 2 foundation cards. Not bad I would say. People who think foundation card are just average probably gotta think again. They might not be crazily good, but given the right conditions and the right combination of cards, they can still do good work and be a threat to your opponents.
