Green Thumb and Digital Sass Collection

Hello on a Tuesday afternoon,

Hope your new week is going great.

I think it’s safe to say I’ve grown a green thumb. These days, it’s all I think about—what I’ve planted, what I’m about to plant, and the things I wish I had the seeds for. It’s become this quiet little obsession, and honestly? It’s satisfying.

My garage doesn’t even feel like a garage anymore—it’s more like a nursery. Peppers, tomatoes, onions, potatoes—they’re all there, lined up like tiny recruits waiting for their big debut in the soil. I check on them constantly, hovering like an overexcited parent, wishing they’d hurry up and grow already. Gardening is supposed to teach patience, but I don’t think I’ve unlocked that skill yet.

And when it’s not plants, it’s pixels. Lately, I’ve been hooked on the digital version of Warhammer 40k. One minute I’m checking seedlings, the next I’m building an army and plotting strategy. Funny enough, the two things have a lot in common—time, planning, and watching something unfold because of your choices. The only difference? In one world I’m nurturing life, and in the other I’m sending troops to glorious battle. Though, if I’m being honest, my seedlings kind of feel like a fighting force too—the operation: “make use of free land space.”

So really, whether it’s plants, paintings, or pixelated armies, it all comes down to the same thing: watching things grow, change, and surprise you. The seedlings remind me that every start feels fragile and uncertain. My portraits feel the same way—delicate but fierce, like an army of faces I get to bring to life and send out into the world.

So yes, I’ve grown a green thumb. But I think I might be growing a green imagination—and it’s taking root in everything I touch.

This is the Digital Sass collection. I thought it would be nice to have them all together. I like to post these as individual posts so that they can appear one the blog https://vokesart.dblog.org Plus I want to post more recent pieces.

That’s all folks. Take care and stay safe.
