Chasing a Dream: My College Journey (part 2)

First Day of School After almost three years of homeschooling, I am now experiencing face-to-face classes again. I’m excited with nervous. I’m nervous about what will happen on the first day. Will the instructors ask a lot of questions? Will they challenge us? Will it be hard for everyone—or just me? I know my classmates are intelligent, because getting into this university isn’t easy.

So, on the first day—there were no regular classes yet. We, the first-year students, were called “freshmen” and “technologists,” which is how all CTU students are referred to. We technologists gathered in the quadrangle area for the welcome ceremony, marking the return of face-to-face classes.

We freshmen were warmly welcomed. They sang the CTU Hymn, the ASEAN Hymn, "Lupang Hinirang", and more. At the end, there was confetti everywhere. People were shouting—it was so amazing!

After that, we freshmen were given a campus tour by the tourism students (who were in their second year). They showed us the oval, the CTU Centrum, and many other areas. The air was so fresh because of the many trees spread across the campus. It felt so calm—the scenery was beautiful, and the overall vibe, along with the people, was just wonderful.

My First CTU Party

The first school event I joined was the acquaintance party. At first I felt so awkward since most of us really not knew each other. But as music goes by, we were enjoying, laughing, playing games, sharing snacks, and taking photos like were old friends. It was a happy night, the one that will always remembered. That night really stuck with my mind. There was this excitement in me that made everything feel like new and special.

Later that night, there was a foam party — something I had never experienced before. It was loud, messy, and full of energy. There were food stalls, music, lights — the kind of night that makes you feel alive. When it ended, my classmates and I waited together for a ride home. We were tired, but happy. I remember thinking, "this is it — this is what college feels like.”

Intramurals Week: A Whole New Vibe

If the party was fun, intramurals week was on another level. The whole campus transformed. Students were everywhere — wearing team colors, waving banners, shouting for their departments. The energy was insane. I wasn’t even playing in any events, but I still showed up every day to cheer on our team.

We supported our candidates for Mr. and Ms. Intramurals, clapped till our hands hurt, and shouted till our voices gave out. It wasn’t about winning. It was about being part of something. Everyone — no matter what course or background — came together that week. And that feeling? That sense of belonging? A feeling that I will always remember.

We made memories together, we laugh, cheer, taking some photos, sharing food and snacks and playing games. There was this unspoken bond among all of us. Even people who barely talked in class became teammates that week. We weren’t just classmates — we were one big group, connected by the experience.

Looking Back

Now that I think about everything I’ve been through, from setting my goal to actually becoming a student at CTU, I feel nothing but gratitude. It wasn’t easy — not by a long shot. But it was worth it.

CTU isn’t just a school to me. It represents something bigger — a chance I was given, and a goal I worked hard to reach. It reminds me that even if you don’t have much, you can still go after something meaningful. You can still build something for yourself.

I still think back to those first few weeks — that rush of emotions, the nervous excitement, the pride on my mom’s face. And every time I do, I just smile because it reminds me of how far I’ve come and how far I still want to go.

Now, I am in 3rd year level. I already gained knowledge, experiences, and skills thatnks to our instructors and classmates. I am happy of what I am today. Though, there still lot more problem, pain I felt when losing something. But it makes me more stronger, this is just a challenge, that I know I can overcome.

Now, Being a degree holder is a goal, There's still a long way to go, but we've come a long way ❤️

Thank You for Reading. Take Care Everyoneee!!! Lovelotsss ♡♡
