The gentle murmur of the waves on Margarita Island was the only alarm we needed. My friend and I woke up in a rustic bungalow facing the sea, with the first rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains. The idea of a full day of disconnecting and relaxing filled us with a sense of anticipation. And, of course, we couldn't leave behind the star of the adventure: my dog, a little ball of fur who was already wagging her tail excitedly.
We had a light breakfast: fresh fruit and natural juices. The plan was simple: to surrender to the slow rhythm of nature. My dog, freed from her leash, ran back and forth, her silhouette outlined in the golden sand. We sat on towels, watching her, while the morning sun warmed our skin.
The first act of our ritual of disconnection was meditation. We sat in the lotus position, eyes closed, letting the sound of the sea guide us. The salt in the air and the breeze caressing our faces anchored us to the present. It was an effortless meditation, where the mind had no choice but to surrender to the immensity of the landscape. My dog, surprisingly, lay down at my feet, as if she understood that it was also a moment of stillness for her.
Afterwards, we explored a little. We walked along the shore, looking for shells and watching the pelicans dive into the water. The energy of the beach was palpable, a reminder that sometimes the greatest healing is found in the simplest and most natural places. Time became irrelevant. The hours passed without us noticing, in a bubble of tranquility.
At sunset, we prepared for the grand finale. We took our yoga mats to the seashore. With the sun painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, we practiced a gentle yoga sequence, stretching our muscles and connecting our bodies with our minds. Each pose felt like an offering to the day we were experiencing. The sound of the sea, which had been our companion throughout the day, intensified, creating the perfect soundtrack to close our day.
A day of disconnection in Margarita is not just an escape, it is a reunion with oneself, with the people we love, and with nature in its purest form.
