What a happy and special day! Today we celebrated my great-aunt's 79th birthday, someone I have loved with all my heart for as long as I can remember.
The celebration was doubly emotional because we spent it in the building where she lives, which is the same building as my grandmother's and, therefore, the place where I grew up. Returning to those hallways, which hold so many memories of my childhood, to fill them with celebration and laughter today was simply wonderful.
We were all together, creating a perfect moment: my mom, my grandmother, my brother, and several dear neighbors who are like family. There was an atmosphere of pure community and affection.
Best of all was seeing my aunt so happy and full of life. She even danced with us! We had a great time, sharing stories and celebrating her as she deserves. Of course, we couldn't miss the highlight: we sang “Happy Birthday” Venezuelan style, with all the emotion and joy that characterizes us.
It was a perfect afternoon, one of those that warms your soul. I am immensely happy to have been able to share this day with her and my family. May there be many more years to come, dear aunt!
