Marriage: a personal choice

In the past marriage is something everyone looked forward to, it showed growth. People believed that for one to happy or complete in life, you must get married. Our parents and grandparents saw marriage as a very important step in life, without marriage you haven't lived life.

But today, things have changed. Not everyone wants to experience marriage, most people just want to live their lives, focus on their careers, enjoy their freedom, and avoid the stress that can come with marriage. We are in world where people decide how to live their lives and that's very much okay.

In my opinion, marriage still has the same meaning. A life long commitment between people but not everyone sees it as such. For some people marriage is about love and companionship, for some it's about just giving birth to children, some people even see it as a burden because of the challenges they have witnessed in other people's marriages.

Broken homes, domestic violence, social media and cheating are the things that make people fear marriage. They don't want to experience such. No one wants to beaten or cheated upon and I'm sure that of people knew how their lives will be after marriage will make a lot of people reconsider getting married or not.

So marriage itself hasn't changed, what has changed is how people view marriage. I believe people should choose what works best for them, whether it's to get married or not. Marriage is good, but only when it is done with love, understanding, and true commitment.
