A terrible naming ceremony day

Once upon a time I heard this story from my mum, when she told me about when I was born and what happened at my naming ceremony.

I was born on November 2 of many many years ago and on my naming ceremony something unusual happened when my daddy's younger brother scatter the naming ceremony just because of #50. The fight was so tense that he brought out a cutlass and he was chasing my dad with it. Funny and critical enough as my dad ran away for his dear life and when my daddy's younger brother sees that he can't lay his hands on him.

He proceeded and started coming to the room where my mum lay a eight days old baby which is me with cutlass as soon as people saw him, and they had known what he was capable of doing, they locked the door from outside, leaving only me inside kept the key and some people ran away while some men were trying to hold him down and calm him down. Hmmm what a bad day for my mum, she was crying profusely and calling people to save her daughter which is me.

Meanwhile, during the time that all this was going on I was also crying from the bedroom and also while the person that held the key was calming my mum she had misplaced the key of the room where I as a baby was staying.

The day was an unforgettable day for my mum, my dad was nowhere to be found, someone had scattered the naming ceremony, I was inside the room crying and the key to the room was nowhere to be found.

After a while, my Grandma called a carpenter to break the door so that my mum could attend to me. She carried me and attended to me.

Not quite long as well, my dad came back home and settled the dispute with his brother and they are all happy together again.

Then when it was at night, after they had settled the dispute I mean my dad and his younger brother. My grandpa wanted to make it sure that both of them aren't fighting again, so he did what he used to do to his children whenever they had an issue. He told my grandma that she should serve my dad's food and his younger brother food together in a bowl and plate so that both of them can eat together, forgive each other and be happy again which my grandma did.

During dinner time, when everyone had settled down for food and my grandma served the food for everybody and everyone sat on the mat outside as that was the custom back then that dinner should be eaten at the front of the house.

My mum carried me out as well for fresh air while she was eating, my dad on the other hand was eating from the same bowl with his brother and everyone was enjoying their meal.

Not quite long when everyone started eating was when I was crying too which means that I needed the attention of my mum. Then my grandma wanted to carry me so that my mum can enjoy her food as she bent down to carry me my dad's younger brother told her not to worry that my grandma should permit him to carry me until my mum is done eating which my mum and my grandma accepted thinking that he had forgiven my dad.

He was singing a local song for me and he was dancing with it. And not quite long he brought up the issue of the #50 that caused the quarrel between him and my dad. Then he demanded that he wanted to know what my dad used the money for.

Then another argument started, as soon as my mum sensed this she went to him to collect her baby which is me from my dad's younger brother, which this man disagreed and he said he wanted to hear the truth and wanted to know what my dad used the money for before he can give me back to my mum.

That was when everyone got up from their food and diverted their attention to him, my dad and my mum.

By now my dad was angry as well. Why did he bring up the matter again? When they had settled the dispute, my dad's younger brother said he wanted to hear and know the truth.

My mum was trying to collect me back from this man but he refused, my dad still tried the same thing. It was then that my dad thought of something to do.

He went to the backyard and picked up a long stick with the aim of using it to fight, as his brother saw this he dropped me on the mat and my mum hurriedly carried me while my dad's younger brother ran to my dad and hugged him telling him that he just wanted to scare people again and that's all.

He even said that he had forgiven my dad and everyone just laughed it off.
