Different Shades of Comfort

Amidst the numerous chaos of this world and the drama that graces our day almost on a daily basis, it's quite normal for us as humans to seek and desire a safe place where we can find peace of mind; these places can be referred to as our places of comfort. And it's worth noting that this differs according to individuals' preferences, meaning a place I deemed as a place of comfort might not be for you, and that's due to our nature and uniqueness as humans. A comfort zone is very important for everyone, as it is a place that goes on to help us catch a breath, have mental clarity, heal, be able to have healthy decisions made, and the like. Just like everyone, I've got places like that, and I'd love to tell you about them. ![1000380638.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/vickoly/244A4K3DvUW663zQqvt79EVU3aDFAJka4RDXZ5hNHErg71to4vGViwK3AacuymB7qph9i.jpg) Like I said earlier, our places of comfort differ based on the individual; for some, a place of comfort could be in their home; for others, it could be when they're alone, at work, around nature, or what have you. What matters most is that place of comfort, regardless of where it is, usually brings about peace, calmness, relief, and a sense of belonging and can serve as a foundation for growth, as one tends to be in a clear mind to explore different things and take calculated risks and basically gives us confidence to explore challenges in a way we can't when we're in other places that aren't our places of comfort. During the course of the year, I've had several challenges to deal with, and all of these literally take a toll on my well-being, including mentally, as I find it difficult to concentrate at work, give my best, and the like. At some point, I even felt sick and had to go to the hospital for treatment, but at the end of the day, what I came to realize is that while it's not like I'm discrediting the effectiveness of medicine or medication, I've come to realize that true healing comes from being in your place of comfort, and for me, that was what turned the tide around for me positively and brought about swift healing when medication failed for weeks prior to being in my place of comfort. Personally I've got about three different places that I can call a place of comfort, and their effectiveness changes based on the situation of things at that moment. Take for instance one of my comfort zones: being alone by myself at home. This usually works for me after working tirelessly at the office, but on days when I've had a worrying experience, then my comfort zone of being alone at home won't be effective. During those periods I often find peace when I'm around loved ones or when I'm gazing at the beauty of nature, be it in a park or in my garden. ![1000380863.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/vickoly/243zffEQN82cjjBh7AycocKqJNiKLiZYouY3Ep1Ffxqb5UwbDCAyYQPyxEQzgSWE6PeRW.jpg) In the same way my place of comfort changes based on the situation on the ground, I'm certain other people might have such unique changes, and it's essential for us to recognize these things and know when to switch for the sake of our peace, because at the end of the day no one can understand us as best as we understand ourselves, so read the room (what your body is telling you) and take proactive steps towards positioning yourself in a place that your body and mind deem as a comfort zone. *** Here is my entry for indiaunited weekly prompt, you can also participate via this [link](https://peakd.com/hive-197685/@indiaunited/indiaunited-new-contest-and-last-c2068d665092e). *** All photos are mine. ***
