When the Bridge of Trust Breaks

Trust is one of the most delicate things to build and doesn't happen overnight; it usually takes proactive steps of both parties to bring it to light, alongside some important traits to maintain, some of which are honesty, consistency, and understanding. With this trust, we began to shower some form of trust towards the person in question. As delicate as it is to build trust, it is also how dangerous bridging it can be, and that's because bridging trust leads to a point where you begin to question every single thing you've had with such a person and doubt that all your encounters were just a facade to gain your trust or something else. ![1000380823.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/vickoly/243fxwTdVjcihCsSdvk2LtUiC4LZvRpnxaBmThA7Do8sYyAqexPh3NQWP1qXFtGSc6saB.jpg) I've had my fair share of bridge of trust, and I must say without any atom of doubt that such is never a desirable state to be in, given the fact that it breeds disappointment, pain, and doubt in almost everything, because we literally begin to question every single thing, both our judgments of them and that of ourselves, and this can lead to a point where it'll be difficult to trust again. Like I said, I've had issues with broken trust on different occasions, in relationships, in my career, and even here on Hive, to name but a few, and each of these experiences just makes you wonder if humans deserve to be trusted at all. On a few occasions I've been approached by known friends and acquaintances who needed help and would say, "Please loan me a certain amount," and I'd just look at my wallet. I have no use for these funds at the moment, so what's the point of holding onto them when they can be instrumental in someone else's life? And so I give them to them without any collateral, just based on mutual trust and respect, and on most occasions they'll refund it as and when due without any form of drama, even people from other countries and continents that I've never been to. However, these are a few sets of people who would rather stick with their words, just abscond with the money, and never look back, and when these happen twice, I just lock my door to helping. Yes, I know many would brand you different names, but it's better to be branded that than to lose your hard-earned money. I can't because I want to help out my own finances at stake, and so when someone I thought could be trusted did the same some months ago, I just knew it was time to stop. Bridging trust means it'll be difficult for you to be trusted again, because trust is so fragile, like an egg, and once broken, it can't be mended to be perfect again. ![1000380826.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/vickoly/242NoVAQnzddYMdVxabjuiH85VFaHvhZRwWJJbCdGKxW9Nn2fuMnzytabkm3WpbWJ3usH.jpg) Broken trust is a way of teaching us valuable language for lessons, one that helps us make better judgments regarding different aspects of our lives. My life is a testament to that in some aspects of my life, and I must say that even though I felt broken then, I must at least be thankful for those experiences as a vital thing that shaped my intelligence and ability to deal with some situations. And that's what I'm driving at: we must rise up from our grief and look towards the positive side. Even though there might seem to be none at the moment, we'll sail through this phase, and there are definitely better days ahead. *** All photos are mine. ***
