El sábado pasado fue un día muy especial para toda la familia, ya que mi cuñado, bueno, en realidad es mi concuño, estaba cumpliendo 70 años de edad y él siempre acostumbra a celebrar sus cumpleaños con buenas celebraciones donde reina el folclore y la idiosincrasia venezolana, ya que durante estas fiestas siempre degustamos cachapas (que es un platillo típico de la gastronomía venezolana) y para la música uno de mis sobrinos siempre se encarga de llevar un conjunto de música llanera, así que el ambiente se pone bastante divertido. >Last Saturday was a very special day for the whole family, since my brother-in-law, well, actually he's my great-grandfather, was turning 70 years old and he always tends to celebrate his birthdays with good celebrations where Venezuelan folklore and idiosyncrasy reign, since during these celebrations we always taste cachapas (which is a typical dish of Venezuelan gastronomy) and for the music one of my nephews always takes charge of bringing a llanera music group, so the atmosphere gets quite fun.
Para la ocasión mi amigo, concuño y además compadre quiso vestirse con Liqui Liqui, que es el traje de gala típico de Venezuela, porque a él siempre le han gustado esas cosas. En esta foto estoy con él y mi otro compadre a quien también aprecio bastante. Es maravilloso reencontrarse y reunirse con la familia y ponernos al día con las anécdotas vividas, sobre todo esas anécdotas de juventud que compartimos y siempre recordamos a lo largo de los años.
For the occasion, my friend, brother-in-law, and godfather decided to dress in Liqui Liqui, the traditional Venezuelan formal dress, because he's always loved those things. In this photo, I'm with him and my other godfather, whom I also greatly appreciate. It's wonderful to reunite with family and catch up on past anecdotes, especially those anecdotes from our youth that we shared and always remember over the years.
Mientras el conjunto de música tocaba toda la familia se disponía a bailar, y de verdad que siempre he admirado como lo hacen con gran destreza, en especial mi esposa, @carmen1659 a quien se le olvida hasta su dolor de rodilla y de la planta del pie, Simplemente cada quien toma una pareja y se preparan para bailar mientras los demás que no se atreven o no quieren se dedican a aplaudir.
While the band was playing, the whole family was getting ready to dance, and I have always truly admired how skillfully they do it, especially my wife, @carmen1659, who even forgets about her knee pain and the sole of her foot. Everyone simply takes a partner and gets ready to dance while the others who don't dare or don't want to, just applaud.
Yo por ejemplo prefiero ser un mero espectador y siempre ha sido así, pero es que por increíble que parezca yo nunca he aprendido a bailar este tipo de música típica de mi país, que aunque me gusta bastante para oírla, los movimientos que hacen al bailar siempre me han parecido complejos y difíciles de replicar. Mi esposa finalmente se sentó a mi lado luego de bailar por un rato.
For example, I prefer to be a mere spectator, and it's always been that way. But, incredible as it may seem, I've never learned to dance to this type of music typical of my country. Although I quite enjoy listening to it, the movements they make while dancing have always seemed complex and difficult to replicate. My wife finally sat down next to me after dancing for a while.
La fiesta estaba buenísima y muy animada pero lamentablemente tuvimos que irnos antes de que cantaran la canción del cumpleaños y cortaran la torta (que estaba hermosa, decorada por mis sobrinas, las hijas del cumpleañero, con fotos que lo mostraban a él en distintas etapas de su vida) porque teníamos que regresar temprano a casa ya que el día siguiente era día de trabajo, pero me alegró haber pasado una tarde/noche maravillosa en compañía de mis seres queridos y viejas amistades.
The party was great and very lively but unfortunately we had to leave before they sang the birthday song and cut the cake (which was beautiful, decorated by my nieces, the daughters of the birthday boy, with photos showing him at different stages of his life) because we had to return home early since the next day was a work day, but I was glad to have spent a wonderful afternoon/evening in the company of my loved ones and old friends.
