Espero que todos estén bien, por aquí les mando mis más sinceros saludos, bueno, por mi parte gracias a Dios estoy bien y desde luego bastante entusiasmado ante esta nueva iniciativa que nos propone #youhive, y tomando en cuenta que hace un buen rato que yo no he pasado por aquí a dejar alguna opinión, bueno, eso me compromete a participar de nuevo, algo que no me cuesta en lo absoluto porque me gusta el tema de esta ocasión, los Podcast. Esta es una palabra muy nueva, sobre todo para las personas de la tercera edad como yo, que poco a poco hemos ido conectándonos con esta era digital, por mi parte yo no manejo más redes sociales que esta, Hive, y youtube, en la primera porque puedo expresarme y me ha permitido desplegar a voluntad mi creatividad y mi deseo de escribir, y la segunda porque me permite disfrutar como espectador, y fue así, en la búsqueda de buen contenido como encontré un podcast que me pareció sumamente interesante, es de un joven alemán y se llama Choque Cultural. >I hope everyone is well, here I send my most sincere greetings, well, for my part, thank God I'm fine and certainly quite excited about this new initiative that #youhive proposes to us, and taking into account that it's been a while since I last stopped by here to leave an opinion, well, that commits me to participate again, something that doesn't cost me at all because I like the topic this time, Podcasts. This is a very new word, especially for older people like me, who little by little have been connecting with this digital age. For my part, I don't manage any social networks other than this one, Hive, and YouTube, the first because I can express myself and it has allowed me to unleash my will to creativity and my desire to write, and the second because it allows me to enjoy being a spectator, and it was thus, in the search for good content that I found a podcast that I found extremely interesting, it's from a young German man and it's called Culture Shock.
Tal como su nombre lo indica, este podcast está hecho con la finalidad de que los invitados expresen como han sido sus respectivas experiencias viviendo como inmigrante en paises ajenos al suyo, y desde luego los choques culturales que han tenido que experimentar a lo largo de sus permanencias, en especial aquellas personas que han formado parejas mixtas, osea de diferentes nacionalidades. Lo mejor de todo es que el conductor del podcast es un inmigrante alemán viviendo en México, así que él puede comprender perfectamente esa brecha que hay entre culturas o idiomas, y lo más bonito, como las personas son capaces de derribar barreras a la hora de querer hacer amigos, aprender un nuevo idioma, aprender sobre una nueva cultura o incluso enamorarse.
As its name suggests, this podcast is designed to allow guests to share their experiences living as immigrants in countries other than their own, and of course, the cultural shocks they've had to experience throughout their stays, especially those who have formed mixed couples, meaning those of different nationalities. The best part is that the podcast host is a German immigrant living in Mexico, so he fully understands the gap between cultures and languages. And, most beautifully, how people are capable of breaking down barriers when it comes to making friends, learning a new language, learning about a new culture, or even falling in love.
Los choques culturales podrían resultar frustrantes y hasta aterradores en un inicio, muchos terminan en malentendidos que podrían hacer que algunas personas tengan un concepto errado de otras, pero lo bueno es que con este podcast aprendemos de esas malas experiencias para evitar que nos suceda lo mismo en caso de viajar, pero también es un recurso para aprender mucho sobre otras culturas y formas de pensar, las cuales podrían llegar a sorprendernos.
Culture shocks can be frustrating and even frightening at first. Many end in misunderstandings that can lead some people to misunderstand others. But the good thing is that with this podcast, we learn from those bad experiences to avoid the same thing happening to us when we travel. It's also a resource for learning a lot about other cultures and ways of thinking, which can surprise us.
Uno de los videos que más disfruté, de hecho creo que fue el que más disfruté fue donde Ruthy San fue entrevistada, ya que yo soy fan de su canal de youtube. Ella es una mujer mexicana que está casada con un japonés, tiene un par de hijos y vive desde hace más de veinte años en Japón, así que ustedes ya podrán deducir la cantidad de choques culturales que esta pareja tuvo que experimentar, en especial ella, que fue quien se trasladó, no solo a una tierra extranjera, sino con una cultura tan diferente a la latinoamericana. Por ejemplo, normalmente, sin importar el país al que pertenezcamos, el concepto que tenemos los latinos de la familia es diferente al que tienen los asiáticos y algunos europeos, nosotros por lo general somos más unidos y expresivos, si ya salimos de casa de nuestros padres solemos visitarlos a menudo, mientras que los asiáticos lo hacen muy de vez en cuando. Tomando en cuenta esto, Ruthy contó que el primer choque cultural que vivió con su marido fue cuando intentó abrazarlo en público y él se retiró, por lo tanto ella lo tomó como un horrible rechazo, pero lo que sucede es que en Japón ese tipo de expresiones no se acostumbran, o mejor dicho, no se acostumbraba porque ahora se ve cada vez con más frecuencia.
One of the videos I enjoyed the most—in fact, I think it was the one I enjoyed the most—was the one where Ruthy San was interviewed, since I'm a fan of her YouTube channel. She's a Mexican woman married to a Japanese man, has a couple of children, and has lived in Japan for over twenty years. So you can already imagine the amount of culture shock this couple had to experience, especially her, since she was the one who moved, not only to a foreign land, but to a culture so different from Latin America's. For example, normally, regardless of the country we're from, the concept that Latinos have of family is different from that of Asians and some Europeans. We are generally more united and expressive. If we leave our parents' house, we tend to visit them often, while Asians do so very infrequently. Taking this into account, Ruthy said that the first culture shock she experienced with her husband was when she tried to hug him in public and he pulled away, so she took it as a horrible rejection, but what happens is that in Japan those types of expressions are not customary, or rather, they were not customary because now it is seen more and more frequently.
Todo esto es muy importante y es algo que pienso que se debe tomar en cuenta, sobre todo con el fenómeno cultural que se está viviendo en México a propósito de la gentrificación y sus consecuencias dentro de la economía y cultura mexicana, ya que muchas veces (no en todos los casos, desde luego) los gestos o parte de la cultura de los extranjeros podría llegar a malinterpretarse y tomarse como faltas de respeto, aún y cuando no es así.
All of this is very important and something I think should be taken into account, especially with the cultural phenomenon that is taking place in Mexico regarding gentrification and its consequences within the Mexican economy and culture, since many times (not in all cases, of course) the gestures or part of the culture of foreigners could be misinterpreted and taken as disrespectful, even when that is not the case.
