The novel recounts the life of the Buendía family, a family that was practically formed on the road to uncertainty, since José Arcadio Buendía had to kill Prudencio Aguilar to clear his honor and that of his wife, and after being haunted by his ghost, they had to flee through the swamp. At a certain point, they realized that it was best to settle in one place, and that is how Macondo was born. The Buendía family grows increasingly numerous and prosperous, but Úrsula (the mother of the family) lives in constant fear that someone will commit the sin that could unleash the curse that could plunge the family and even the entire town into its own destruction. >La novela relata la vida de los Buendía, una familia que prácticamente se formó en el camino hacia la incertidumbre, ya que José Arcadio Buendía tuvo que matar a Prudencio Aguilar para limpiar su honra y la de su esposa, y tras el asedio de su fantasma tuvieron que huir a través de la ciénaga, en determinado punto se dieron cuenta que lo mejor era asentarse en un solo lugar y fue así como nació Macondo. La familia Buendía va volviéndose cada vez más numerosa y próspera pero Úrsula (la madre de la familia) vive con el constante miedo de que alguien cometa el pecado que podría desatar la maldición que podría hundir a la familia e incluso al pueblo entero en su propia destrucción.
One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of Gabriel García Márquez's most famous novels. In fact, it was thanks to this work that he won the coveted Nobel Prize for Literature. And how could it be otherwise? This literary gem perfectly summarizes the political, social, and economic history of all of Latin America through the years up to the first half of the 20th century. It is such a complete story that we can find in it even the most insignificant adventures in detail, but at the same time, they could unleash a whole event, such as the cockfight that led to the death of Prudencio Aguilar and the future exodus of an entire town that wandered through the swamp until they finally founded another town.
Cien Años de Soledad es una de las novelas más célebres de Gabriel García Márquez, de hecho fue gracias a ella que él consiguió el anhelado premio novel de literatura y ¿Cómo no? si esta joya de la literatura resume perfectamente la historia político, social y económica de todo Latinoamérica a través de los años hasta llegar a la primera mitad del siglo XX, es una historia tan completa que en ella podemos encontrar a detalle hasta las aventuras más insignificantes pero que al mismo tiempo podrían desatar todo un acontecimiento, como la pelea de gallos que provocó la muerte de Prudencio Aguilar y el futuro éxodo de todo un pueblo que viajó errante a través de la ciénaga hasta que finalmente fundaron otro pueblo.
The story is full of magical realism, which is the ingredient that gives it flavor and makes it special, as the reader is immersed in a surreal world where the extraordinary becomes commonplace. It is hilarious but at the same time fascinating: dead people wandering the corridors of a huge mansion as if they were alive, fish entering the house and swimming in the humidity of the air after four years of rain, and priests levitating, among other things. Although there is almost no dialogue, it is impossible to get bored when you sit down to read this novel, but you may get a little confused among so many names that are repeated over the years.
La historia está plagada de realismo mágico, es el ingrediente que le da sazón, que la hace especial, ya que el lector se sumerge en un mundo surrealista donde lo extraordinario se convierte en costumbre, resulta hilarante pero al mismo tiempo fascinante: muertos que deambulan por los pasillos de una enorme mansión como si estuviesen vivos, peses que entran por la casa y nadan en la humedad del aire tras cuatro años de lluvia y sacerdotes que levitan entre otras cosas. Aunque casi no tiene diálogos es imposible que puedas aburrirte cuando te dispones a leer esta novela, pero sí que es posible que te confundas un poco entre tantos nombres que se repiten a lo largo de los años.
It is full of colorful characters, each one different from the other, with their own fascinating story, so it is possible to recognize oneself in them or recognize anyone we know. Why? Because even though they are fictional characters, they are based in a certain way on reality, since García Márquez took inspiration from several members of his own family. For him, there was no better or greater inspiration than everyday life itself, with a touch of hyperbole sprinkled with that magical realism that always characterized him.
Está llena de personajes variopintos, cada uno diferente al otro, con su propia historia fascinante, así que es posible reconocerse a uno mismo en ellos o reconocer a cualquier persona que conozcamos ¿por qué? porque a pesar de que son personajes de ficción están basados de cierta manera en la realidad, ya que García Márquez tomó como inspiración a varios miembros de su propia familia, para él no había mejor y mayor inspiración que la propia cotidianidad de la vida con un toque de hipérbole salpicada de ese realismo mágico que siempre lo caracterizó.
