During the COVID-19 lockdown period, I realised that blue-collar workers are the drivers of any economy. During that period, many economic activities were totally shut down and everything was at a standstill. I remember that those periods were full of hardship and suffering and the only people that stayed afloat were the artisans and business owners.
My brother had a commercial vehicle, and he used that vehicle to run around the city, and he brought home money for food. Imagine that my brother was working a white collar job that paid a salary at the end of the month. Where would we have got money to eat and survive the period when all offices were shut down and many companies downsized their workforce?
In a local economy, the artisans, businessmen and women, are the owners of the economy. No economy can survive without them. White collar workers, as important as they seem to be, cannot be equated with blue-collar workers. In every aspect, money flows constantly through blue-collar jobs. Without them, the economy is stunted. The economy grows from jobs that allow money in the hands of people. For example, a barber is sure of making his money when people come to cut their hair, the same applies to a mason who builds houses.
Many people do not know that blue-collar jobs are more lucrative than white collar jobs. Our educational systems have made it look like working a white collar job is the best. This is not correct; the most successful people on earth in terms of money are not white collar workers, but blue-collar. This is to tell you that while collar jobs are just there to limit potential and make one look small.
I prefer to be a blue-collar worker rather than to work in an office environment, known as a white collar job. Blue-collar jobs allow you to maximise your full potential and bring lots of money to your account instead of working for the benefit and growth of someone else. The money realised by entrepreneurs, for instance, by the end of every year may not be realised by a man who works in an office.
The simplest way to shut down an economy is for blue-collar workers to stop working. I recall some years back in my country, when all workers and trade unions went on strike. The economy shrank and lots of money was lost in the process. So the drivers of every economy are the blue-collar workers.
Think about businesses, think about artisans, think about blue-collar jobs.
Thanks for stopping by.
