My lifestyle concerning hygiene made me realise that good hygiene can make one stay healthy for years without falling sick. Unhealthy hygiene is one of the causes of ill health and sicknesses in society. This is the reason that whenever someone is constantly sick, it is advised that he or she checks his hygiene.

One of the quickest and easiest avenue by which germs and other bacteria gets into the human system is through the hands or what we call fingers. This is my number one hack on hygiene which I am about to share with you. I remember some years ago, I usually had stomach aches intermittently. It was then that I realised that it was the work of some stubborn bacteria which got into my system through my hands. Someone might ask if I was licking my hands then or eating without washing my hands, it's none of those but always biting or chewing nails. I know many people are guilty of this. Chewing nails is a very dangerous and unhygienic lifestyle. Nails hide germs, bacteria and parasites; therefore, when you take them to your mouth, you end up transferring them to your system.

We do virtually everything with our hands; we use our hands to touch, play, hold things, etc In this case, one should know that most surfaces are full of bacteria, so touching those things is equal to picking up germs into our hands. From our hands, we transfer them to the food we eat. Many people think that when they wash their hands before eating that they have automatically washed off those germs and bacteria. Germs and bacteria are stubborn parasites; hence, they need thorough application of anti-bacterial scrubs before they can be washed off. This is where the application of soap is recommended whenever we wash our hands before eating. Washing your hands with only water is just like not washing at all. Also, washing hands in a bucket or still water is not advisable. The water must be running water or, better still, water from taps. This is the only means by which one can wash off germs from the hands.

I realised many years ago that constantly adopting this lifestyle has saved me from lots of minor diseases and sickness that were happening almost all the time. Like the stomach ache I mentioned earlier, constipation, diarrhoea and many others. These were common illnesses for me. Therefore, if you see yourself having these illnesses, all you need is to check the water you drink, constantly washing your hands with soap and running water, and avoiding biting or chewing nails.

These are my hygiene hacks adopted many years ago, and they're still working till today. You may want to give it a try.
