This morning, on a relatively cool early Autumn day, @clareartista and I went on a stroll around our land. The idea was to check out and hopefully identify some mushrooms that we saw the day before and to possibly find new fungi.
And although we found some, none of them edible, the nicest surprise was this little funny guy ( not a fungi ) that climbed on Clare's leg, near the end of our walk.
Cute, right?
It brings back memories of 30+ years ago, primary school days.
My siblings and I had found a couple of stick insects ( 'wandelende takken' - in Dutch ) near our house and had decided to temporary keep them, as pets.
We put them in a jar, with holes poked in the lid for oxygen and added some leaves for them to feed on.
We might have only had these funny fellas for a couple of days but they sure intrigued us.
How can they not?
Another thing I couldn't help but think of was a couple of posts I wrote, about 2 years back, about so called 'stick figures'. They were a class of 'parasites' that played a part in my 'The Monster of Disco' (and the other Monsters) project that I was working on back then.
In case you weren't following me back then or want to refresh your mind, here's a link to that project:
The Ultimate Guide to the Monster of Disco and the other monsters
Scroll down, about half way, to find the stick figures ( that I made out of clay ).
and as a sneak peak or if you don't have time, here's a pic of one of them:
Followed by a photo of Clare gardening ( probably looking for edible greens ), wearing my cap and the funky dungarees that she made herself ).
And here's another pic of what is probably a poisonous mushroom.
There's so much more that I could write about.
We ate our first walnuts, from our own tree...
-
finally got running water
-
went to the seaside, on Wednesday
-
keep discovering new areas to walk in and explore
-
seem to have found a great lowbudget solution to waterproof our house and prepare it for Autumn and hopefully Winter weather*
and so on and so forth
but I will leave all of that for another day.
For more detailed - and somewhat more frequent updates on what's going on in my life and on our land here in the Italian countryside, I suggest you keep an eye on @clareartista's blog ;^)
