Light Escape to The Thean Hou Temple, Seputeh - Kuala Lumpur

Hello good people on hive...  This escape took place on the second day of the Hive Fest 10 conference in Kuala Lumpur. Ahead of the launch, @aswita and I decided to go for a quick walk—it didn't matter if we missed lunch. Besides, the place we wanted to go was very close to the venue, so we were confident we could get there in no time. So, we went sightseeing at Thean Hou Temple. Then @akumagai came with us. When he saw us coming out, he asked around and decided to tag along when we said we wanted to go to the temple. So let's get it! ----- [//]:# (!worldmappin 3.12196 lat 101.68765 long d3scr) ----- **Thean Hou Temple** ---- ------  Thean Hou Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur. It took about 20 minutes from the Hive Fest venue—I didn't actually count, but let's just say so. Because it's on a hill, we had to walk uphill to reach it. @akumagai said it was another leg day, haha. As I said before, my legs are strong but my lungs aren't. After a bit of hardship, we finally arrived at the temple. Although the weather was extremely hot, the temple's beauty seemed to make up for it.   According to sources I've read, this temple was built by Hainanese people and is managed by the Hainan Selangor Association. It's actually the largest temple in Southeast Asia. This is understandable, as the temple covers an area of ​​approximately 1.67 hectares. Temples in my country are relatively small, so I'm confident that this is truly the largest in Southeast Asia. ---  At first, we were hesitant to enter the temple, as no one knew whether it was open to the public or for worship purposes only. We hesitated, even walking up to the Malayan tiger statue until a queue began to emerge, and we followed it.  >Malaya Tiger -----  After the second leg of the day, we finally arrived at the top of the temple. It was a beautiful temple, decorated with yellow lanterns dotting the sky, and red lanterns adorning the canopy. The combination of the two colors—especially yellow—reminded me of the mhendi ceremony in Indian films, where yellow is often used everywhere.  |  |  | | ----| ----|  By the way, this is the most epic part of the temple. This sacred candle cup is so famous, everyone loves to take pictures with it, and I just realized I've seen it long before I came here—in a movie. I only realized it as I'm writing this. When you get closer, you can really feel how sacred it is.  -----  Correct me if I'm wrong, inside this temple is a giant statue of Thean Hou, the god of the sea, the reason this temple was built. Because it's so sacred, I didn't want to go inside for fear of disturbing the worshippers there. So I just stayed outside.      ----- Visiting interfaith places of worship is always a joy for me. It allows me to be more respectful of the religious differences around me and less judgmental. So, this was my first visit to a Chinese temple so far.
