Have you ever been happily minding your own business…
until nature decides to poke you in the foot? 😅
After days of rain and gray skies, the sun finally made a shy appearance, peeking through the clouds like a kid trying to join a game of hide and seek. The moment felt too peaceful to ignore. Everything around me looked extra green🍀,, The vacant lot next to our house, which usually looked like an overgrown mess, suddenly looked alive, fresh and photogenic. So, I grabbed my phone and went on a tiny adventure.
The ground was still damp, the air smelled like wet grass, and little droplets clung to every leaf like tiny diamonds. Some were sitting gracefully on delicate, feathery leaves, while others just clung to round, thick ones like they were afraid to let go. Every leaf had its own style of holding rain. 💧🍃
I was crouching, leaning, twisting, trying to get the perfect shot (while pretending I was in a nature documentary). I even chased a few grasshoppers, who clearly didn’t sign up for a photoshoot and jumped away in panic.😂
That’s when it happened…
I felt something sharp poke the bottom of my foot. 😳
I was wearing clogs,, not the best choice for off-road exploration, I know, and something was definitely hiding under the thick bed of leaves. I froze, half thinking it was a thorn, or worse… a bug with attitude. I bent down, slowly brushed away the leaves, and there it was,, an empty snail shell. Just chilling. Looking all innocent and weathered like it had been through its own dramatic journey.
At first, I wanted to throw it into the unknown corners of the lot, far away from innocent feet. But then I paused. I looked at it again, lying quietly on the green carpet of vines and leaves. “Wait a second,” I said to myself, “this would look great.”
So I took a picture.
And I wasn’t wrong,, this old snail shell, just laying there like it gave up on everything, ended up being the star of the show. Surrounded by vibrant green leaves, it looked like it was peacefully taking a break from life’s chaos. Honestly, same.
Lesson of the day? Even a stubbed foot can lead to something beautiful... or at least photogenic. 😆
