Promise Me This

I can't stand empty promises and therefore never asked someone to promise me anything and still I don't but lately I do ask a friend to "promise" to drive carefully, to take care of himself and so on, simply because I like to have them around even though we don't see each other frequently (it's not because of me). This morning I spoke to another friend. The last time we spoke was in January and I was the last one who said something, but no reply so I was not sure she would this time. It seems life is still hard on her and her family. If they don't find a home soon, they will be homeless with the result the grandchildren will end up in foster care (strange, is this what Belgium looks like? Homes for strangers and robbing their own people their children, it sounds strange, but at the same time I think: it's true what they say.). It's clear there's no one EU otherwise we all could live in the country we like, find a home everywhere, take the health insurance of the cheapest country, same for taxes for cars and so on.
