The first time I stayed in KL, I booked on Airbnb like 10 days at the Regalia, got a one bedroom apartment for around 250β¬ which I thought was a good deal as this was my break time from my trip, reaching halfway point in a 3 months long plan so staying in one place for longest was nice.
I could live a more normal life, less tourist stuff, a bit more time resting, writing on my laptop, planning and just going to the mall and eat lots of food. It was a good decision for me and probably help in me loving KL so much now because I really enjoy it the first and even more the second time which was for new year 2025 and finally for hivefest this year.
Lots of amazing memories in this city already and I am sure more to come.
Regalia and Sunway Putra Mall
Regalia isn't in the city center but is easily accessible by public transport with the PWTC station near the Mall which is on the brown line and connects directly to the TBS bus terminal which where I came from. From here you can reach KLCC with a change to the red line, pretty fast and efficient and I went to KLCC a lot during my time, really like the place.
The are lots of options available to rent at Regalia, studio, 1 bedroom even a hostel exist in one of the tower. All those should give you access to both pools including the SKY deck infinity pool which you can see on the picture above. The view from there is amazing, unfortunately most of the time I went I couldn't stay long since it started raining then they would remove everyone from top level for safety.
Regalia was very convenient with 2 mini supermarket onsite, a self laundry facility, a restaurant and a coffee stand which had some nice Ice Americano. So if you wanted to stay in for the day, it was very easy to do, for more food option you could walk to the subway putra mall which was probably 10mins walk and was nearly fully covered from the rain if you took a detour using the pathway connecting PWTC and Putra train station.
I went to this mall a lot for dinner and went twice to see movies at the cinema since it was so conveniently close. I would recommend for people that want a similar experience, if you come for only a few days in KL, you could find a similar confront option closer to the city which would save traveler time if you wanted to move everyday but Regalia was nice to recharge.
Visiting the Petronas towers
During this week I manage to book a ticket to visit the inside the personas towers, I didn't realize it but when I went, tickets were scarce and I actually had to book severals days in advance in order to get access to a time slot I wanted. So plan headed use it might sale out on the day you want.
The visit is guided and timed so you have to respect that, you won't be able to stay too long at the top. I remember there being two stops at the connection point between the two towers and at the observatory. After you go down to the gift shop and you can stay longer there :)
Quick stop inside KLCC to visit the museum
The museum is on the 4th floor I believe, you can leave you small bag at the storage area and go in, there is some history about the Petronas, the oil industry, a platform and some science stuff, lots of games for kids too, it can be interactive.
After you can just find a lot of food and coffee option inside the KLCC mall, you can go outside to the park and to the connected MRT/LRT station. I found out later you could even walk to the other big mall Pavillion via a walkway connected to this mall. Pretty cool way to move between if raining like crazy outside.
Conclusion
I am going to leave you with another picture of the KL skyline at nightfall when buildings started to light up one by one, it was a pretty cool experience too from the pool.
Bonus tip: As I said, if you want a specific date to visit the Petronas towers, book in advance, groups are small per time slot and also be on time.
I think this is my last or second to last post about KL right now, will cover my trip to Cameron Highlands after and how to get there by Bus.
