Hello everyone,
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Krka National Park in Croatia and I would like to introduce you to this beautiful place. To start with, a few interesting facts about the place itself. Krka National Park is located in southern Croatia, known for its beautiful waterfalls and rich natural and cultural heritage. Located along the Krka River, it is the second most visited national park in Croatia after the Plitvice Lakes. The Krka River flows into the Adriatic Sea. The park is known for its seven waterfalls, but a few stand out as must-see destinations: • Skradinski Buk • Roški Slap • Visovac Island • Krka Monastery
Krka National Park is easily accessible by car or bus from nearby cities such as Split, Šibenik and Zadar. There are several entrances to the park: • Lozovac: The main entrance from the road, with a large, free parking lot. During the season, a bus takes visitors to Skradinski Buk. • Skradin: This entrance is located in the charming town of Skradin. From here you can take a scenic boat ride down the river to Skradinski Buk. • Roški slap and Burnum/Puljane: These are the entrances to other parts of the park, convenient if you want to explore the area behind the main waterfall. I personally visited Skradinski Buk, which is reached by boat from the Skradin entrance, where you can park your car and continue the journey by boat, which runs every few minutes depending on occupancy. The boat ride takes about 5 minutes and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery through the canyon along the way. Before arriving in Skradin, I visited the Vinko restaurant, known for its excellent food. Since 2019, it has had a Michelin recommendation. My suggestion is to try the Rižoto na Skradinski.
Upon arrival in Skradinski Buk, the first impression is the roar of the waterfalls. The tour goes uphill, so it is recommended to wear sneakers. There are several rest areas/viewpoints along the way and at the top there are plenty of restaurants where you can eat something. Depending on your personal fitness condition the tour takes about an hour. Upon returning by boat to Skradin, you can swim in the river where there is a designated swimming area because swimming is prohibited in the national park.
If you are traveling to the Croatian coast, I recommend you visit the Krka National Park. Upon arrival in Skradinski Buk, the first impression is the roar of the waterfalls.
