Cocatrice || Splinterlands_Art

Este pequeño dragón fue uno de los primeros integrantes de mi equipo. Allá, cuando estaba conociendo las cartas del juego. Lo que llamó mi atención fue cuando salió su “piel” o algo parecido. Lo hacía ver como un dragón mayor, jaja. Dibujar dragones sigue siendo un reto para mí. Si bien es uno de mis animales o seres favoritos en el mundo, al momento de dibujarlo siento que aún no logro adaptarlo a mí estilo. Es como si existiese una enorme barrera o cierta lejanía entre los dragones y yo. >*This little dragon was one of the first members of my team. Back then, when I was getting to know the cards in the game. What caught my attention was when its “skin” or something similar appeared. It made it look like a bigger dragon, jaja.* >*Drawing dragons continues to be a challenge for me. Although they are one of my favorite animals or creatures in the world, when I draw them, I feel that I still can't adapt them to my style. It's as if there were a huge barrier or a certain distance between dragons and me.* --------------- ----------------- ### Cocatrice ### Fuente: [Splinterlands](https://splinterlands.com/) --------- -------   Esta vez, cuando estaba haciendo el boceto, me daban ganas de comerlo, jaja. No sé si sea común esto. Lo miraba como si fuese un ave lista para desplumarla y cocinarla. Creo que eso quiso decir que Cocatrice estaba bien rellenito...o quizá ya había cazado y estaba lleno. Las acuarelas fueron mi opción principal al momento de plasmar este dragón. Una de las ventajas es que se avanza rápido, muy rápido. Por eso, para Cocatrice decidí iniciar pintando el fondo. Este sería un lugar alto, muy alto y oscuro a la vez. >*This time, when I was sketching it, I felt like eating it, jaja. I don't know if this is common. I looked at it as if it were a bird ready to be plucked and cooked. I think that meant Cocatrice was well-fed... or maybe it had already hunted and was full.* >*Watercolors were my primary choice when painting this dragon. One of the advantages is that you can work fast, very fast. That's why, for Cocatrice, I decided to start by painting the background. This would be a high place, very high and dark at the same time.*   Continué pintando las partes claras de su cuerpo, como sus alas, cuerpo, garras y su cola o rabo. Adicioné color amarillo para intensificar más las partes claras. Con el amarillo en mano, aproveché pintarle los ojos y el pico. Ahora que lo pienso, creo que la intensidad de la cresta roja de Cocatrice y sus ojos amarillos hizo que lo relacionara con un ave comestible, jaja. >*I continued painting the light parts of its body, such as its wings, body, claws, and tail. I added yellow to intensify the light parts even more. With the yellow in hand, I took the opportunity to paint its eyes and beak. Now that I think about it, I think the intensity of the Cocatrice's red crest and yellow eyes made me associate it with an food bird, jaja.*  Llegó el momento de ponerle el color rojo, este sería un rojo claro oscuro dando para el color palo rosa. En este momento hubo algo que llamó mi atención y fue las plumas que lleva en la cola, las lleva hasta cierto punto no cubriéndola en su totalidad. También, es una cola emplumada y con aspecto de reptil...esta característica la hace una especie única. >*It was time to add the red color, which would be a light dark red, giving it a pinkish hue. At this point, something caught my attention: the feathers on its tail, which cover it to a certain extent but not entirely. It also has a feathered tail with a reptilian appearance...this characteristic makes it a unique species.*  Cocatrice también tiene una lengua muy similar al de las aves y reptiles. En esta parte incorporé el color negro en su cabeza, en las puntas de sus alas y sus garras. Ver como el personaje va tomando forma es divertido. A esto le fuí adicionando las copas de los enormes árboles. Otro dato curioso de este personaje fue el hecho de llevar 2 garras debajo de su pico. Esto me pareció mas un elemento decorativo que utilitario, porque no me imagino que tenga una función al momento de cazar a su presa. >*Cocatrice also has a tongue very similar to that of birds and reptiles. In this part, I incorporated the color black on its head, the tips of its wings, and its claws. It's fun to see the character take shape. I added the tops of the enormous trees to this. Another interesting fact about this character was the fact that it had two claws under its beak. I thought this was more of a ornamental than a utilitarian feature, because I can't imagine it having any function when hunting its prey.*  Una vez terminado la parte de las acuarelas, utilicé lápices de colores para resaltar algunas partes del personaje, como las alas, la cola, las plumas, entre otros. También, utilicé lápiz portamina para remarcar los contrastes y agregarle sombras. La tinta negra la uso principalmente en la parte de los ojos y rostro. Esta me es útil para resaltar las partes pequeñas. Por último, utilicé tinta blanca para el brillo de los ojos. >*Once I finished the watercolors, I used colored pencils to highlight certain parts of the character, such as the wings, tail, feathers, and others. I also used a mechanical pencil to emphasize contrasts and add shadows. I mainly used black ink on the eyes and face. This is useful for highlighting small details. Finally, I used white ink for the sparkle in the eyes.*  Creo que los dragones sí existieron en alguna época, una donde el planeta era habitado por seres enormes y vivían muchos, muchos años. Digo esto, porque aún existen plantas bastante longevas, cuyos troncos de seguro vieron pasar varias generaciones de humanos, animalitos y otros seres. Así como el sol, la luna y el planeta tierra tienen una etapa de vida distinta a la nuestra. Esto de ver y relacionar lo macro y lo micro es simplemente maravilloso. Hay tanta similitud y diferencias y tanta complejidad y sencillez a la vez, que es lógico entender que hay distintas formas de vida. Las cuales a diario pasan desapercibidas por muchos de nosotros. Por lo pronto, aprovecha ser feliz contigo, con tú entorno, con quienes te rodean...Cambia tú mundo. >*I believe that dragons did exist at one time, when the planet was inhabited by enormous beings that lived for many, many years. I say this because there are still plants that live for a very long time, whose trunks have surely seen several generations of humans, animals, and other beings pass by. Just as the sun, the moon, and the planet Earth have a life cycle different from ours. Seeing and relating the macro and the micro is simply amazing. There are so many similarities and differences, so much complexity and simplicity at the same time, that it is logical to understand that there are different forms of life. Many of us fail to notice them on a daily basis. For now, take advantage of being happy with yourself, with your environment, and with those around you. Change your world*
