Finally found a good chicken rice place around where I live in Pattaya. I have been here for almost a year (don't even know how that happens) and been looking for a good place to go for when I'm craving some chicken rice. Not many places and when I find one, it's always not the best or not meet my standard (wink wink)
I got an alfafa about this chicken rice place from a local coffee place that I'm a regular there. He says, if I haven't liked any I had visited, this one I really gotta. Real local, real good.
Sawang Khao Man Gai
Khao man is the rice that get cooked a certain way and have the rice with chicken aroma and a little oily from the chicken broth.
Gai is chicken.
So together, Khao Man Gai is this delicious delicious (I realize I type that twice #lol) dish with aromatic & flavored rice topped with boiled chicken. A spicy fermented soy bean sauce on the side. That's also each shop unique recipe to make their own taste.
Sawang Khao Man Gai get everything just right. From the rice that they use jasmine rice and cooked it just perfectly. I really not into those chicken rice that use any other low quality rice to cook with. The chicken is also well cooked.. not too mushy, not too hard and of course, simply flavorful! The sauce, gotta say they have their own unique taste of the fermented soy bean sauce as it gets a little spicy, sweet, and spicy.
Their chicken rice served with a really good chicken soup that of course made with the bones from the chicken they use. Real chicken taste and they season it real good.

Chicken rice secret weapon
Normally that would be it for the chicken rice but Sawang Chicken rice got this secret weapon.. (I guess.. as I have never seen any other places serve with this side pickles before) Pickled ginger! A good palette cleaner before the next bites indeed.
Chicken noodle soup
If main ingredients for 2 dishes pretty much the same thing, why not sell 2 in one place which is exactly this chicken rice shop is doing. If some day you don't feel like some rice, chicken noodle soup it is!
Bring it on, chicken feet, blood cake and all the chicken intestines.. The soup surprisingly they don't use the same type of the soup they serve with chicken rice. The whole different type, color and taste.
Honestly though, I think their noodle soup is just alright and nothing special. Their chicken rice on the other hand, I could come here a few times a week just for it, really!
Homemade Chrysanthemum tea
What's the best drink after chicken rice? Since this dish is influenced by the Chinese immigrants from way long time ago, the drink that always goes with it is this Chinese flower tea, Chrysanthemum tea. With its color, I can tell that a lot of you is skeptical but please just try! You can already smell the aroma of the flower before even sipping it.
Most local chicken rice around
You know Pattaya is quite touristy but this one located in such a local area. We don't see many tourist or almost none of tourists while dining there. The price is also local price. Good value for the portion and taste you get.
This is totally by far the best and also my most favorite go-to chicken rice in Pattaya from now on!
