Ok. so its time for another dev-log because my desktop is getting way too full of progress screenshots. I usually take a screenshot whenever i see something and think to myself, 'whoa, thats cool'. and i guess there have been a lot of those because i have been building the ...
nature district
in Gnar World.
Ok wait, first of all, i went back to brazil and added a cool favela run.
and my version of the Lapa Steps to get back down.
So now to make some trees, i have to hop into Procreate, and then Crocotile. The power went out at my house a lot during this time because we had a lot of storms. so my computer monitor didnt work. i was only able to work in procreate and wait for the power to come back on to fire up crocotile.
An oak Tree fell in my yard during the storm, so i got to get a nice close-up look at it.
Then i asked the Hive community what trees they wanted to see. They suggested Willow Tree, Birch, and Sycamore. @alienarthive, @oldsoulnewb, @caspermoeller89
Added some pine trees to the mountain.
I also used a flower painting from an artist i met at an art gallery recently.
I love trees. now when i go outside i see the beauty of trees so much more from learning to model them.
Proton scattered the floor plants
ok but now for the real win. I really wanted to embody the Lost Woods feel from Super Nintendo Zelda. as a kid i always loved how they did that with the shadows. I wanted the shapes of the leafs to be shadows, and the sun kind of does it but i needed to add spotlights to intensify the visual effect.
and yes we are goin to fix those "motion blur" things coming off the player soon.
Alright so, i dont really have a super good example of how i did the "lost woods" effect haha. but im getting there. the nature world isnt finished. i didnt even show you the intro to the nature area which is a crazy grind -rail path with consequences. The nature world isnt done at all yet but its Decorated, which is needed. now i need to make the routes and make the area make sense.
above are some random little material textures i thought i would throw in anyone can use.
