Witnessing your friends open up a business is a great feeling. They're excited and have put a lot of thought into the name, the place, the decoration, the menu. This weekend we joined our friends for the soft opening of Clac cocktail bar. Conveniently, right on my block! If things get out of hand, I can crawl home 😄. Quite convenient.
The owners are French. You might be able to tell from some of the decoration on the wall. Also, the appetizer menu has delicious French delicasies like steak tar tartare
Anchovies on toast and a delicious pesto salad.
I ordered a Negroni (or two) which was prepared right in front of me with chilled ingredients, a chilled glass and a single ice cube. I love it when bartenders take the art of mixology seriously. It's fun to watch and makes the experience so much better.

Tall glasses look a bit more flattering when photographed from a low angle, right? I like the one on the right a bit more.
I spent the evening at the bar chatting with the bartender and close friends and snapping some photos of the process.
I might eventually talk to them about accepting free, peer-to-peer, censorship-resistant magic internet money...
but that conversation is not for today. Today is for celebrating.
