Hey que tal hivers?, como están en estos días de casi navidad? Si eres de Madrid quizás no sabrás que el encendido de las luces es el 22, por ello menciono que estamos a pocas semanas. Aunque ya se siente el espíritu navideño.
Hey, how's it going, hivers? How are you doing in these days leading up to Christmas? If you're from Madrid, you may not know that the lights will be turned on on the 22nd, which is why I mention that we're only a few weeks away. Although you can already feel the Christmas spirit.
Recién llegado a la ciudad siempre me pregunté, cuales son los planes mas cercanos y baratos en Madrid?, que lugares interesantes tengo cerca?, como puedo llegar? Fue ahí cuando en mis tiempos libres me propuse a conocer rincones de la comunidad de Madrid muy geniales, que no les dan el crédito suficiente, un ejemplo de ello el museo o "La estación fantasma de Chamberí", es un lugar único e increíble que deben visitar, al igual que el Museo del Ferrocarril también es super interesante, sin contar El Templo de Debod, Parque el Capricho, Parque Las Presillas, Parque Polvoranca, entre otros.
When I first arrived in the city, I always wondered, what are the closest and cheapest things to do in Madrid? What interesting places are nearby? How can I get there? That's when I decided to spend my free time discovering some really cool places in the Madrid region that don't get enough credit. One example is the museum or “La estación fantasma de Chamberí” (The Ghost Station of Chamberí), a unique and incredible place that you must visit, as is the Railway Museum, which is also super interesting, not to mention the Temple of Debod, El Capricho Park, Las Presillas Park, Polvoranca Park, among others.
Pero hay uno muy icónico que he mencionado unas 3 veces aquí, porque siempre ha sido la escapada mas fácil y rápida de la ciudad, El Parque Europa, además de ser muy visitado y tener los monumentos mas famosos de Europa en miniatura, en ocasiones es centro de exposiciones, una de ellas a la cual fuimos fue, exposición retro gamer, videojuegos y peliculas super viejas, exposición de replicas del coche de rápidos y furiosos, Star wars, volver al futuro y otras mas.
But there is one very iconic place that I have mentioned about three times here, because it has always been the easiest and quickest getaway from the city. Parque Europa, in addition to being very popular and having the most famous monuments in Europe in miniature, is sometimes used as an exhibition center. One of the exhibitions we went to was a retro gamer exhibition, with super old video games and movies, an exhibition of replicas of cars from Fast and Furious, Star Wars, Back to the Future, and more.
Bueno lo primero es que el Parque Europa, esta fuera de Madrid centro pero se encuentra en la misma comunidad de Madrid, a la que pertenece Torrejón de Ardoz, acá se llega fácilmente en Renfe, la linea que va a Guadalajara marca Torrejón, si no es el caso en carro propio son 20min, al bajarse de la estación y caminar a la avenida principal a mano izquierda se encuentra la parada de buses, alli tomas alguno de los 2 y te deja a unas cuadras o frente al parque Europa.
Well, first of all, the Europa Park is outside the center of Madrid but is located in the same community of Madrid, to which Torrejón de Ardoz belongs. It's easy to get there by Renfe train, taking the line to Guadalajara and getting off at Torrejón. If you're not taking the train, it's a 20-minute drive. When you get off at the station, walk to the main avenue on the left and you'll find the bus stop. Take either of the two buses and you'll be dropped off a few blocks away or right in front of the park.
Mi recomendación no vayan tan tarde como nosotros, pero bueno lo interesante es tomar fotografías en los monumentos que hace estar en otras partes de Europa, sin mentir debo tener fotografías en esta Torre Eiffel unos 3 días diferentes, pero Yorbelys no conocía el parque aun. Sin embargo la exposición de retro gamer fue por lo que quisimos ir aquí, así que nos fuimos al sitio inmediatamente.
My recommendation is not to go as late as we did, but anyway, the interesting thing is to take photos at monuments that make you feel like you're in other parts of Europe. To be honest, I must have photos at the Eiffel Tower on three different days, but Yorbelys didn't know the park yet. However, the retro gamer exhibition was why we wanted to go there, so we went straight to the site.
Bueno el primer stand estaba justo donde esta la replica de la Plaza Mayor, estaba una carpa con videojuegos, peliculas de los 80-90', juguetes en miniatura, consolas y otras cosas. Por su puesto que habían peliculas super icónicas de mi infancia las cuales vi y recordé como un flashback por unos segundos, y muchas personas que igual que yo se sentían identificadas.
Well, the first stand was right where the replica of the Plaza Mayor is, and there was a tent with video games, movies from the 80s and 90s, miniature toys, consoles, and other things. Of course, there were some super iconic movies from my childhood that I saw and remembered like a flashback for a few seconds, and many people who, like me, felt identified with them.

Acá comenzaba la exposición inmersiva (Solo estaban las esculturas en el exterior de manera que podíamos tomarnos fotos, aunque no se podía tocar). Lo que mas me gusto fue la pasarte de Star Wars, soy fan de la saga y ver las figuras de los Ewok, Jabba el hut, sinceramente fue lo mejor para mi, también vimos el auto de Herbie.
This is where the immersive exhibition began (only the sculptures were outside so we could take photos, although we couldn't touch them). What I liked most was the Star Wars section. I'm a fan of the saga, and seeing the figures of the Ewoks and Jabba the Hutt was honestly the best part for me. We also saw Herbie's car.
En la siguiente parada estaban stands del Rey león, chucky, Mario Kart, Jurassic park, rápidos y furiosos entre otros, lastima que ya era de noche y no se podía ver, pero literalmente las replicas de los coches eran idénticas, eso estuvo increíble. Según tengo entendido esta navidad van a decorar el parque al estilo navideño y encender la torre Eiffel con tonos rojos, así que también es un plan para visitar.
At the next stop, there were stands featuring The Lion King, Chucky, Mario Kart, Jurassic Park, Fast & Furious, among others. It's a shame that it was already dark and we couldn't see them, but the replicas of the cars were literally identical, which was incredible. As I understand it, this Christmas they are going to decorate the park in a Christmas style and light up the Eiffel Tower in red tones, so it's also a good plan to visit.

Siguiente parada (Pero al día siguiente), Chocolatería San Gines, sinceramente muchas veces me dijeron que fuera allí, pero luego de 1 año acá, decidimos ir a probar las malteadas, y solo porque un amigo de nosotros trabajaba aquí. Quizás en otra oportunidad vayamos a probar los churros con chocolate, pero es que la verdad no me parecen tan buenos como los de Latinoamérica, sin embargo es tradición de Madrid comer eso acá. El local es agradable, la fachada, todo la verdad y la atención genial, 10/10.
Next stop (but the following day), Chocolatería San Gines. Honestly, I had been told many times to go there, but after a year here, we decided to try the milkshakes, and only because a friend of ours worked there. Maybe another time we'll try the churros with chocolate, but to be honest, I don't think they're as good as the ones in Latin America. However, it's a tradition in Madrid to eat them here. The place is nice, the facade, everything really, and the service is great, 10/10.
Unas vueltas por Sol, para ver la estación que marca el contador de los días que faltan para la inauguración de la pista de F1, y el gran premio de España, es posible que ahora ese contador este por 300 o menos días. Para finalizar con una cena en tierra burritos, si no han ido también es 10/10, sinceramente es la 3ra vez que voy y no me canso probamos nachos y burritos y todo estuvo super bueno.
A few laps around Sol, to see the station that counts down the days until the opening of the F1 track and the Spanish Grand Prix. It's possible that the countdown is now at 300 days or less. To finish off with dinner at Tierra Burritos, if you haven't been there yet, it's also 10/10. Honestly, it's the third time I've been and I never get tired of it. We tried the nachos and burritos and everything was super good.
Ya acá me despido, y en la siguiente nos vemos en Chamberi, lastima no fui cuando estuvo en temática de Halloween, pero aun así el museo vale la pena visitar y oír su historia. Hasta la próxima.
