Good day, Hive family, how are we all doing?
Earlier yesterday, I got a notification on my Ecency app and decided to check it out. To my surprise, it was a message from HiveBuzz celebrating my 20th post. That’s when it really sank in. I’ve just completed a month on the blockchain. Yeahhh! 🎉
At first, I honestly felt indifferent about the milestone. But then, curiosity led me to the leaderboard section of the Ecency app. Was it my first time there? No, but it was the first time I really paid attention. I saw an account with 103 points, which looked like the highest, so I clicked on it.
That’s how I stumbled on @beauty197’s blog. And what did I see? Over 17,000 posts in just three years! I was humbled and amazed. I couldn’t believe it. I literally spent hours scrolling through her page, post after post, learning, picking cues, and drawing inspiration.
From her blog, I joined new communities, got fresh writing ideas, and was reminded that on Hive, you can write just about anything, and there’s always a community for it.
You see, I love journaling. It has been therapeutic for me over the years, and Hive feels like a perfect space to continue that journey while healing and growing.
But as I was scrolling, HiveBuzz’s 20th post notification came back to mind. I thought, “20 compared to 17,000? That’s such a huge gap.” For a moment, I was hard on myself.
*Lessons I Learned***
Thankfully, I didn’t stay in that mindset for long. Reflecting on it, I realised:
Instead of feeling discouraged, I should be inspired by her progress, consistency, and dedication.
Growth takes time. I’ve only been here for a month; she’s been building for three years. That’s a big difference!
Sometimes, the people we should look up to as inspiration are those we mistakenly compare ourselves to. But their results are not accidents; they come from process, sacrifice, and persistence.
Celebrate small wins. Today it’s my 20th post. One day, I’ll look back and see how far I’ve come. After all, @beauty197 also once celebrated her own 20th post.
In the end, I’m grateful my curiosity led me somewhere meaningful. Instead of a baseless comparison, I found motivation. And I thank God for that.
