In this post, I want to share a simple, step-by-step process for making a pen holder using a 350ml Bigi Cola bottle and some leftover beads I had at home.
Honestly, I got tired of constantly searching for pencils and erasers every time I did homework with my girls. It was as if an invisible spirit kept devouring them. Lol, it became both tiring and annoying.
So, I started keeping the pencils in used bottles and closing them up. That helped a bit, but the disappearance didn’t stop completely.
Then one day, I thought, why not make the used Bigi Cola bottle look attractive for the girls? If they love it, maybe they’ll be more encouraged to keep their pencils and erasers there.
And that was how this creative little project began. Let me take you through the step-by-step process of how I made it.
Materials Used
350ml used Bigi Cola bottle
Glue
Beads
Hard paper (cardboard)
A piece of jean fabric
(You can use any bottle size, bead type, or fabric design you have available.)
Step 1: Cutting the Bottle
Cut the 350ml Bigi Cola bottle in half; you’ll only need one half. Apply glue bit by bit around the tip of the cut edge. Then, as you arrange your beads to apply the glue.
Step 2: Decorating with Beads
Start arranging your beads around the outer part of the half bottle, making sure the open edge is at the top. I had beads of different colours at home, and since each set wasn’t enough to go around, I decided to mix and match them to create a lovely design. Continue until the whole bottle is fully covered with beads. )
Step 3: Making the Base
To make the base, I used a piece of cardboard from a fabric bag project and wrapped it with a piece of blue flower-patterned jean material. Then, I glued the bottom of my beaded bottle to the centre of the wrapped board.
And that’s it, my beautiful, homemade pen holder was read. The girls loved it when they got back from school yesterday.
They immediately started looking for pencils and erasers to keep there. I hope our mysterious pencil thief stops visiting. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
