Hello DIY family! It’s been a while. Happy New Month, and I wish you all the best it brings.
Schools will soon resume in my state, and this holiday has been filled with a little bit of everything with my girls, from fun times, noise-making, fighting, outings, and some DIY moments. Since their last break, I’ve made it a tradition to create an art piece with them every holiday. And for this one, here’s the cute décor we came up with.
Items We Used
Empty 500mg Vitamin C container
10-inch kebab sticks (divided into three pieces each)
Glue
Cotton buds
Nail polish (pink curtex)
Artificial clay (pink)
Styrofoam
Ribbon
Step 1: Prep the Container
Peel off the paper label from your Vitamin C container until it’s plain. Carefully cut off the lid from the neck of the container using scissors or a knife (be extra cautious here).
Step 2: Colour the Sticks
Spray-paint your kebab sticks gold and allow them to dry. Since the sticks are long (10 inches), I cut each into three smaller pieces to match the container’s height.
Step 3: Cover the Container
Apply glue to both the container and the sticks, then carefully arrange the short sticks vertically around the container. Make sure they’re close together with no gaps.
Step 4: Create the Base
Once fully covered, your container will be nicely transformed into a chic golden stand.
Step 5: Add Weight and Flower Bed
Fill the container with small stones to make it stable. Cut a round piece of styrofoam to fit the top and place it as a base. I added pink artificial clay as the flower bed on top of this. (If you don’t have clay, use a thicker styrofoam piece.)
Step 6: Make the Flowers
We made flowers using cotton buds, glue, and nail polish. I used pink nail polish to match the clay flower bed. The shades were slightly different but still looked beautiful together.
Step 7: Final Touch
I tied a ribbon around the body to avoid making it too plain. The ribbon was from an old pair of pyjamas—upcycling at its best! And honestly, I love how it turned out.
And that’s it! A simple, beautiful, and creative piece for your table décor. Also, when the flowers, seraoifaim and artificial clay are removed, one can turn it into a pencil or pen holder
