My Flowering Tomato Plants

Good day @hive family, welcome to my blog today

I’m super excited to share some excellent news with you, family, my tomato plants have started flowering, 💃💃💃

A few weeks ago, I noticed the growth of two healthy and vibrant tomato plants around our fish tanks in the compound. Interestingly, I didn’t plant them myself. I’m guessing they sprouted from random tomato seeds that came from the kitchen water we usually throw out.

Their location couldn’t have been better. They grew right at the base of the fish tanks, where they receive just the right amount of water from the tank outlets. That water is rich in nutrients, as it carries waste from the fish tanks, and I believe that’s what has helped them develop so quickly and healthily.

Now, they’re already flowering, and that means I’ll soon be harvesting fresh tomatoes right from our compound. I’m so thrilled because there’s nothing quite like the joy of harvesting from your own backyard. They always taste different and more special than the ones you buy from the market. Don’t you agree? Lol.

At this stage of flowering, tomato plants require the optimal balance of water, sunlight, and nutrients. It’s so clear that these two have everything they need in that spot. No wonder they’re thriving better than even the ones in the garden!

Sadly, the tomato plant in the garden isn’t doing as well anymore. I suspect it’s because of its location. It’s pretty close to the walkway, and I think it’s been stepped on a few times, especially when the kids wander into the garden. It’s also not getting as much water now that the rains have stopped. Otherwise, I believe it would have started flowering too.

I think it’s time to resume watering the garden now that the rainy season is over. I also have a baby tomato plant growing there, and I’m hopeful it will do well just like the ones near the fish tank. I plan to give it more care, and in a few weeks, I’m optimistic it’ll catch up.

While I’m harvesting from my flowering plants in some weeks to come I might just be celebrating new growth from the baby plant, too. Fingers crossed for a bountiful backyard tomato harvest soon. Cheers
