Weekend-Engagement week 270 topic 2

If we're going to talk about something complicated, we have to mention the internet in my country, since despite having an average speed of 70kb/s it is very expensive. In Cuba, the minimum wage for a person is 2,500 pesos, this is equivalent to approximately 6.5 dollars, but things get complicated because you can only recharge once in the entire month with a 360 Cuban peso card, with which we can buy a package of only 6gb, that is, when it runs out, you will have to wait until the month is over to be able to recharge. But we Cubans have a second option, which is that if someone has a relative or friend who can top up their account from abroad, they can top up their account with whatever amount of credit they want. They can also sell that credit on their phone to other people in Cuba, something that people take advantage of, since not everyone has that option, and they end up charging 360 pesos of credit for 1,000 Cuban pesos, which is practically half their salary. This is why the number of people using the internet in Cuba has decreased significantly, since even having the money is very difficult to get, and when we do have it, we have to save a lot of it, since it has to last us the entire month.

Thanks to the #weekendexperiences community and @galenkp for giving us the opportunity to talk about these topics, which turned out to be very interesting and help us reflect on the situations we live in, and those of others, in order to try to improve with a vision for the future. Regards.
