My initial plans of going to another prefecture were ruined. I had an itinerary in mind, even though I made it last minute before going to bed. I’d leave at 9:30 am and enjoy the river and go to the mountains then come home when the sun sets. These plans just vanished, like an art not yet complete, in short drawing, all because I woke up late - as in, in the afternoon.
I had to change plans all of a sudden but I was tired of going to the same places nearby for a walk. I got hungry searching where to go, so I figured I should just eat lunch somewhere. I remembered a Korean chicken place I used to order in Ubereats, and found out to be in Sasazuka. It’s less than an hour walk from home so that became my destination for the afternoon.
From Nakano-ku, it was just an easy path - I just had to keep walking straight. I didn’t even need the maps to check if I was in the right direction. I thought Sasazuka is in Nakano, so I was so surprised when I saw the sign saying I was entering Shibuya-ku.
I kept on walking and walking til I passed a highway, well, under it. That was my cue to start turning right - and I reached the train station area.
It’s not a major station but they made it nice. Under the train tracks, they built a shopping and dining center, and around it there were few establishments.
I actually got so confused here. I was so prideful not to check the maps, so I was checking every corner and looking for the area map to see where the chicken place was. I finally found it in a very small corner, just in front of a supermarket. To get there, I needed to pass a small alley no one would expect to enter.
I can finally eat. They have a chicken rice menu - which they don’t have in Ubereats so I chose that. I didn’t really have to eat lots of chicken but if I have decided to go home after reaching here, I’d probably be getting a box of chicken pieces.
The chicken rice was so delicious! It was enough fuel for me to go on. I planned to go to a cafe and spend time there doing stuff, but I received a message from my partner asking me if we could go home together as I told him I reached Shibuya-ku. So I checked the maps to go there and it says an hour walk. Okay then, it’s a walking day today might as well make it worthwhile.
I passed a humble shopping street and then reached a riverside. It’s just a small one and later, it became a path for walking. It was nice as it’s safe for people walking and children playing as it’s also very spacious.
The end of that walking path was the main road. I thought of stopping by Starbucks on the next train station that I would pass but I didn’t know what came to my mind at that time that I just decided to continue walking til I reach Shibuya station and just go to a cafe there.
I was nearby Yoyogi Uehara when I saw this. It was my first time to see this in Tokyo.
I was 30 minutes away from Shibuya station when I had to use the skywalk. Ugh, I didn’t want to use the stairs since I just climb an uphill street. Good thing the skywalk here have elevators.
I found myself walking in another shopping district. This time it’s a bit laid back, so different from the nearby Shibuya station area. The street was Kamiyama-cho. There was a party going on I guess since I saw a big group of foreigners partying on the street side.
I found pretty dresses! I could remember when I was a kid I had cute dolls that were dressed beautifully but they’re not for me to play - they’re stored in a container for me to look at them. They’re my grandmother’s dolls maybe, not mine. ☺️
At the end of Kamiyama-cho street was Shibuya station! Hmm, not really the train station but its surroundings.
I never thought I’d spend my Saturday afternoon walking 2 hours and a total of almost 9km. It’s as if I ran a 10k marathon. It was a good walk but also, my foot sore was terrible that I couldn’t stand or walk properly at night. 😅
Thanks for reading! See you around! じゃあ、またね!
