It's my special day and I always want to try doing something new or travel out of town - anything just to spice up my everyday life. I figured maybe I should tick off an entry in the bucket list. Thus, this glamping experience.
If you haven't heard of glamping, it's like camping but on the luxurious side. I've always wanted to try it, but it's really pricier and out of my budget but luckily, I found a reasonably priced glamping site near Kawaguchiko.
The name of the this humble glamping resort is Suite Glamping Kawaguchiko. It only has 4 domes, each with its own private space. There are many glamping resorts in Kawaguchiko but I chose this one because of its price (as I've mentioned earlier), its view (you can see Mt. Fuji from here!), and because of the private toilet and bath. In most glamping resorts of the same price range, the toilet and bath are shared among other guests. I want the privacy hence I went for this among all others. Plus, we could have BBQ!
Check in time is at 3pm so while waiting for the time, my partner and I enjoyed ourselves at the nearby Fuji Q Highland. We availed of the free pick up service so a driver was waiting for us past 4pm at the parking area of Fuji Q. Some people drove to the site, but we're not so we had to avail of the service. There's a parking space in the site. From Fuji Q, the drive was around 15~20 minutes. It would be difficult to commute so I suggest you take their free services.
When we arrived, we were welcome by our huge dome! I was so amazed because it looked bigger than in the pictures. There were 4 double beds, and from the inside of the dome, we could see Mt. Fuji! The beds were too much for the 2 of us! π It would be great if you could come here with a group.
There's a separate area that looked like a trailer where the kitchen, dining, toilet and bath are located. There's no space for bonfire, but you could do very cutesy fireworks here. I loved how the trailer's windows can be opened so people could enter from there too.
After resting and some refreshments, we're off to walk to the nearest grocery store to buy our BBQ essentials. We didn't avail of the BBQ plan of the hotel to save. We only rented the grill so here we were, walking 10~15 minutes to the grocery store. The grocery store was big, and before coming, I've read from google reviews that they would run out of ingredients around late afternoon, but when we were there, there were still plenty left for BBQ. We bought different kinds from chicken, pork, beef and seafood. We even bought onigiri for yaki onigiri and yakisoba.
It started to get dark the moment we came back so we had to start our BBQ party. We could only use the grill til 9pm. It was our first time to use this kind of grill so we were having a hard time setting it up, and it kinda takes time for it to cook. In the middle of eating and talking and grilling, we called my partner's family to ~~show off our accommodation~~ catch up.
We were so full from eating loads of meat and seafood that we couldn't finished everything. At least I grilled everything so in the morning, our breakfast was the leftover BBQ heated in the microwave. π
When it was night time, everything is just so dark and silent, and of course, we couldn't see Mt. Fuji. In daylight, I would sit on the couch inside the dome and just look at Mt. Fuji's direction. Despite many trials and storms in life, it was such a great day and a great life and I'll remain grateful for this experience on my special day.
The checkout was 10 am, and a miss I did was not booking the free dropoff service so we had to walk almost an hour to the train station in a very sunny weather. π
I'm so happy to experience a simple and joyful birthday at this glamping hotel. It would be great to come here with a group but of course, it's completely okay to come alone or with someone.
Thanks for reading! See you around! γγγγγΎγγοΌ
