Phew! I felt relieved and excited to get home from Cuba and find I didn’t miss the rest of winter. White fluffy cold stuff was still surrounding my Minnesota home. There would still be time to catch snowflakes on my tongue, time to go sledding, time for laying on my back and taking in the night sky, time for bundling up and sitting out a snowstorm pondering why humans lost their body hair. Ah yes, still time for strapping skis on my feet and once again being struck with the absurdity of human ingenuity, time to be hurried out of the house drippy wet from a shower and within a minute have a full head of icicles.
Happy to be back in Minnesota
The farm dogs leading the charge through the snow.
And while sometimes I would like to make like a beaver and snuggle up all winter inside a cozy lodge, I have more fun when I push myself out into the elements. Here are some of my favorite winter moments. I’ll harvest these memories and do it all again next year.
Stumbling into a cave and finding to my surprise ice stalagmites, something I didn't even know existed. Amazing :)
More caving shenanigans
Snowball fights.
A lake beginning to freeze over
@Lovejoy and I make a tiny gingerbread house!
Wild eyed I try not to eat our truck!!
Staying in and making gingerbread tiny houses with my foxy compatriot.
Pudge and I ready for action, harnesses on and skis strapped
Trying skijoring for the first time with this wild furry moose
Learning how to pirouette on ice skates
Flying my kayak through fluffy water with my niece, the silliest little winter goose
Reading adventure stories from my Cuba journal
The days are getting longer, and soon the earth here in Minnesota will be filled with little green surprises, a birthday celebration to be had for each returning wildflower.
Until then stay warm strange furless beings!,
