The ramifications of American journalist Tucker Carlson's interview with Vladimir Putin are still being felt.

The World Government Summit, which is being hosted in Dubai and brings together well-known figures from the political, media, and financial spheres, did, in fact, feature the former Fox News presenter as a guest. Carlson provided additional background information about the interview's setup throughout his remarks.

The American journalist alleges that despite the meddling of US intelligence, she has been trying for three years to set up the interview with the Russian leader without success. In fact, Carlson says he was even surveilled by US agencies. The American journalist's readiness to interview Putin was first reported in 2021, supporting Carlson's theory.

The news was first reported by the American news portal Axios: sources close to the conversations tell Axios that just before the Fox News host accused the National Security Agency of spying on him, Tucker Carlson was discussing the possibility of setting up an interview with Vladimir Putin with Kremlin intermediaries based in the United States.

Thus, Tucker Carlson had previously scheduled the interview with Putin for 2021—prior to the start of the new phase of the crisis in Ukraine—only to have it derailed by a federal government spying operation.

In one instance, Carlson's statements had been publicly refuted by the National Security Agency.

There are two reasons why the NSA's viewpoint is unusual. First of all, the agency hardly never steps in to publicly reject someone. The second is that, although being Carlson's primary charge, the statement says nothing about the interview with Putin.

Furthermore, Carlson's conversations were unintentionally intercepted, even though the NSA denies targeting him; this is another evidence of the intelligence uncertainty around this issue provided by the Axios site.

In actuality, Tucker Carlson's Fox News show was essentially canceled two years later in April 2023, and the journalist was fired from the network without providing an official reason. Therefore, it is extremely plausible that the American journalist was being watched while speaking with the Kremlin by American agencies. However, the new Media Freedom Act in the European Union has made this technique legally permitted.

A law that permits the use of spyware on journalists' cell phones in national security situations, provided the judiciary grants permission. Thus, if an investigative journalist in Europe decided to follow Carlson's lead, security services would almost certainly be keeping an eye on his phone. This is due to the fact that Putin is viewed as a danger to EU national security. Thus, it would seem that external influences are a constant presence in the work of journalists in the Western Hemisphere, unless they choose to support the narrative that is being propagated at an institutional level.
