The Art of Gifting.

Gifting is one of the many love languages that exist and happens to be in the top five for me. I place so much value on presents, especially the thoughtful ones. One doesn't necessarily have to break the bank to give a loved one something thoughtful or memorable. The little things matter too. 1000754395.jpg This reminds me of one of the most thoughtful gifts I got –a pack of tea. One would think tea to be a very unconventional gift but the fact that it came just a few days after I had made a complaint to my sister about always staying awake all night even when I took no form of energy booster during the day, made the gift perfect. The best part is that although being a medical doctor, she took into consideration the fact that I am not big on taking medications except when I'm on the verge of breaking down. So, instead of recommending some pills, she gave me something I have no problem taking; tea. The tea was a soothing tea which had a calming effect on me each time I took it. What more can one ask for?

Gifting friends and loved ones always comes easy to me because I'm not just a keen listener but a keen listener who remembers every detail. Most of the time people randomly or unconsciously voice out their wants, needs and even wishes during conversations and this is usually the best time to take metal notes. This way, we take a peek at what the person in question may actually like or not.

I recently gifted a cold-sensitive friend a crochet cardigan and some scrunchies and I remember her beaming with so much joy and excitement majorly because the gifts were carefully crafted to meet her everyday needs. Hence, a crochet item is one of the thoughtful items I would give a friend. This is because it takes an optimum amount of love to make every single stitch in a crochet project and it also creates room for adjustment to suit the receiver's taste.

Another gift idea may be something related to the individual's line of work. I have many entrepreneurs as friends and more often than not, there is always something that can make their job easier that they do not possess. Most of the time, they can afford these things but gifting them makes it more memorable and thoughtful. That being said, I can give a fellow crochet artist a pack of foreign yarn, a durable steamer or a blocking board as a present. A friend who's a content creator can be gifted bright LED light to elevate their content or even a tripod stand.

I firmly believe that one can tell a whole lot about a person by just paying proper attention to them and this also applies when planning presents for people. To reiterate, I'm big on thoughtful gestures, be they big or small. It shows that the giver not only pays attention but genuinely cares and is making conscious efforts to make the receiver feel special.
