This is one of the greatest fears of human beings:
> #### “The fear of letting go of what one believes in.”
Because we identify with what we believe in.
This is also one of the greatest problems of human beings.
You identify with a belief. You identify with something, and when you identify with something, you end up confusing who you are with what you identify with.
This can be described as a “false self” image.
You create a false “self” about yourself. And this will lead you to a blurred self-image that is not aligned with who you really are.
This will lead to a certain concealment of who we truly are. This concealment leads to a feeling of incompleteness, of not being whole, and generates a feeling of being nobody. Emptiness begins to fill the corners of our doubts. The image we have of ourselves is replaced by the belief we are committed to.
What we do from that moment on is try to fill that emptiness... That vacuum, that gap that should be filled with our own ideas, thoughts, and passions.
From this emptiness, an enormous need for approval arises almost immediately. The need for external approval, for appreciation from those around us, for recognition from those who see us daily and judge us... Reinforcing a false idea of the identity we have just assumed as our own.
This cycle of belief, identification, and external validation is a pitfall. It prevents us from truly understanding ourselves, from experiencing the freedom and genuineness that results from shedding beliefs that no longer are serving us. The fear of letting go is, at its very essence, a fear of the unknown, a fear of the vulnerability that comes with unpeeling the layers of our manufactured identity.
To truly overcome this fear, we must be willing to question our beliefs, challenge the narratives we have created about ourselves, and embrace the uncertainty that comes with self-discovery. It is a profound and challenging path of discovery, one that leads us back to our authentic selves, to the truth of who we are beyond the beliefs we have maintained.
By letting go, we encounter the beauty of being whole, of living authentically, and of experiencing the wholeness of living without the self-imposed limitations of a phony “I.” It is a path to fullness, to completeness, and to a profound sense of being truly alive.
