The Morrigan is a figure from Celtic myths and legends. She is a fierce figure associated with war, fate, and death. She is also heavily associated with the concept of sovereignty and bestowing the right to rule upon kings. She is a central figure in many ancient Celtic myths and legends, particularly in the Ulster cycle. She is often depicted with her ravens and the number three. She was often depicted as a triple goddess, with three aspects representing different sides of her nature. Badb ("crow of battle") is associated with death and the terror of the battlefield. Macha is an aspect of the sovereignty of the land. Nemain is the embodiment of the frenzy and chaos of battle. Indeed, The Morrigan as a grim and bloody goddess. I find it interesting that the myths of the Celts are not more widely known and I must confess to not having the strongest knowledge of that particular branch of myth and folklore, though I find it very compelling and will be reading up on it more. Cheers!
