Creating a Path for Web3 Empowerment

The Journey and Future of Decentralized Collaboration

I’ve been developing a web3 app with @akeru at www.akeru.ch over the past few months. Our vision? To empower AI prompters, creators like graphic designers, pattern makers, and digital artists to collaboratively create and launch digital assets—such as garments—that a community can preorder. This way, when a minimum order quantity (MOQ) is reached, production can seamlessly begin. With gamification, voting for designs, and transparent logistics, this app could transform how creators and consumers engage in the digital and physical supply chain.

But how do we bring this idea to the world? This post dives into how we can market such innovations, target the right audience, and leverage smart contracts and interoperability for scalable success.

1. The Importance of Marketing on Instagram for Web3 Initiatives

Should web3 projects be marketed on platforms like Instagram? The answer is a resounding yes. Despite its association with Meta, Instagram remains a mainstream platform that can’t be ignored if your goal is mass adoption. It’s not about promoting monopoly; it’s about meeting people where they are.

Instagram’s reach, coupled with simple user experiences, can help onboard users who are new to web3. Account abstraction is a key component for simplifying the user journey, making web3 adoption smoother and more accessible to the everyday user.

2. My Web3 Experience: Bridging New and Familiar Technologies

In my time exploring web3, I’ve seen firsthand how user-friendly experiences can engage even skeptical audiences. One example is my collaboration with @swisshive, where we hosted an event that allowed attendees to top up their accounts with Hive or HBD and pay for food and drinks. The Hive blockchain, with its significant TPS (Transactions Per Second), showcased a speed comparable to Switzerland’s widely used but occasionally sluggish Twint payment system. This exercise reinforced the potential of blockchain for practical, real-world applications.

Yet, even as these crypto solutions developed, the general public remained anchored to conventional systems, especially in Switzerland where trust in financial institutions is strong.

3. The Swiss Advantage: A Supportive Regulatory Environment

Switzerland’s embrace of crypto, including its forward-thinking DLT law, creates fertile ground for innovation. Its regulatory clarity offers stability that can’t be found everywhere, making it an ideal place for startups and established businesses alike to experiment and build.

4. Building Consistency: Social Media Strategy

Consistency is crucial in social media marketing, especially for niche projects like mine. While platforms such as Farcaster provide a web3-native space for interaction, reaching broader audiences requires maintaining a presence on more conventional platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Meta (Instagram and Facebook), and even TikTok.

5. Targeting the Right Niche: Connecting Conscious Consumers

My ambition goes beyond targeting a niche focused on supply chain transparency, renewable energy usage, and social compliance. I aim to reach the conscious consumer who wants to know who made their clothes, where the fabric came from, and how ethically it was produced. Is this idealistic? Perhaps. But while blockchain can offer unparalleled traceability, not all environmentally conscious consumers are active on web3—yet.

6. Solving Smart Contract Logic for Interoperability

Imagine logging into a platform with a wallet such as Keplr, Metamask, or Sui Wallet. You find a product you love and decide to buy it. But which chain will host the smart contract? Creating a smart contract on a single chain limits accessibility across others. To achieve true interoperability, we must:

Create Abstraction for Web2 Users: Implement account abstraction so new users don’t even realize they’re interacting with web3. A wallet can be created for them using their email, and payment can be handled through services like Stripe, creating a seamless experience. Dynamic Smart Contract Issuance: Enable the creation of smart contracts at the moment of purchase, on the chain corresponding to the user's wallet. This way, one user could own an NFT on Sui, another on Polygon, etc.

7. Real-World Application Example

Consider a scenario where a T-shirt design has 50 units, each uniquely numbered. With the right solution, #1 could be minted on Sui, #2 on Polygon, and so on, without fragmenting the experience. This level of interoperability empowers the user and decentralizes ownership across multiple chains.
