Hello everyone! There is a weekly Photo Quest that is being hosted by @qurator and the theme for this week is 'Fire'. I wanted to participate and this is my submission for the photo quest.
The above is the full version of the same picture I am submitting as my entry. I cropped it slightly in the first image. I did not do any editing and just submitted it as it is. I had to squat down a little to get the photograph at this angle. I thought the light's refraction through the glass and lighting with shadows of the fires and the statue, respectively, appeared best at this angle.

The Subject

This is a glass oil lamp which comes with a wick holder. We need to place a cotton wick and light it up with fire. It is long lasting and easier to clean as well compared to the traditional clay lamps. The glass is made of high quality borosilicate which is heat resistant and can widstand high temperature. So it is safe and that is also probably why it can be slightly pricey.
The silver lining is that we can use it for a long time and keep it lit for the entire day. The refraction of light through the glass also creates a beautiful, serene looking glow of light. I would prefer the room to be a little more well lit. But this is my aunty's home and she prefers dim lighting especially when we are watching movies. I think the dimly lit space brought out the beauty of the lamp more.
The statue at the back is the divine statue of Lord Nataraja. He is the Lord of Dance in Hinduism. Nataraja is Lord Shiva in his cosmic dancing form. It symbolises the cycles of creation, preservation and destruction. It is considered auspicious to keep this statue at home. It invites the positive energy into the home along with creativity and spirituality.
