# Greetings, @Movies&Tvshows community!…

During the week, I started watching a Japanese movie. I think it's the first time I've seen a production from that country, at least a movie, because I have seen series. Anyway, I want to express why the movie had an interesting plot, but I feel like it didn't connect with me. It has that something that makes you wonder, “Really?”

# River (リバー、流れないでよ)….

Set to premiere in 2023, directed by Junta Yamaguchi and written by Makoto Ueda, starring Riko Fujitani. It falls under the genres of science fiction and comedy.

# What is the plot about?…

The story takes place at the Fujiya Inn, located in a small town in Kyoto called Kibune. The inhabitants of the town begin to experience something strange, as they repeat the same moment every two minutes, meaning they are stuck in a time loop with very short reset times. At the inn, we meet Mikoto, the protagonist of this story, who was standing by a river and is called to do her chores. However, after two minutes, she returns to the river.

Although she initially notices the repetition, it is not until the others begin to feel that they are experiencing the same action repeatedly that they realize what is happening. Even though that moment repeats itself (because it is not even a day), their consciousness and memories remain intact. After that, they all try to come up with a plan to find out what is causing this loop, how it started, and how to fix it.

However, with so little time to accomplish tasks, this leads to despair and frustration for some characters. We observe how each one reacts differently to this event, which erases all the effort achieved during that time. Will they be able to break this cycle? What caused it?

# Personal opinion

I really liked the idea of the loop and the fact that it takes place in a very short period of time, because it highlights the characters' desperation and the conflicts each one faces, which prevents the plot from feeling monotonous, as the scenes flow quite smoothly. My problem was with the uneven humor, which some people liked, but personally I found it jarring. I think it would have been better to handle it with suspense and desperation, making it more psychological, if you know what I mean?

Another thing I didn't like, besides the unnecessary romance (I like it, but I don't prefer it in this style of film, or they could have handled it better), was the ending, how they resolved the conflict and the element that caused it. I think they lacked more ingenuity in developing this climax of the story, honestly. However, I must note that its originality cannot be overlooked, because it is appealing in a certain way and the message it explores is captivating, referring to how routines can become a major inconvenience, how there must be a need for change in order to move forward and overcome adversity, especially when destiny is not yet written.

As for the setting, it was spot on. You could feel the mysticism in the scenes, and although the actors didn't give the best performances in the world, they did the job. Even so, it has its major flaws, but it really does have an appealing element and a lot of potential.

-A setting that is not only beautiful but also generates a lot of mysticism.

-An appropriate pace that does not become exhausting.

# Negative points…

-The humor could have been handled differently.

-A better ending, or in its development.

The interesting thing about this film is that it was really well received, yet I feel like it was missing something, a better-developed plot with unexpected twists and turns. Or am I the only one who's being picky? 🤔 I admit that it's entertaining, but I wouldn't watch it a second time, which leads me to ask you: How do you think you would feel in a loop that only lasts two minutes?

Entre semana me puse a ver una película japonesa, creo que es la primera vez que veo una producción de este país, por lo menos película, porque serie sí. En fin, quiero expresar el motivo por el cual la película tenia una base interesante en la trama, pero siento que no conectó conmigo, tiene ese algo que uno se pregunta ¿en serio?

# River (リバー、流れないでよ)….

Estrenada para el año 2023, bajo la dirección de Junta Yamaguchi y del guion a cargo de Makoto Ueda; protagonizada por Riko Fujitani. Entre en los géneros de ciencia ficción y comedia.

# ¿De qué va la trama?…

La historia se sitúa en la Posada Fujiya, ubicada en un pequeño pueblo de Kioto llamado Kibune, los habitantes del momento comienzan a experimentar algo extraño, pues repetían el mismo momento cada 2 minutos, es decir, se encontraban dentro de un bucle temporal y super estrecho sus tiempos de reinicio. En esa posada, tenemos a Mikoto, la protagonista de esta historia quién estaba junto en frente a un rio y es llamada a que hagas sus labores, no obstante, al pasar los 2 minutos, vuelve nuevamente al rio.

Aunque al inicio, ella se percata de la repetición, no es después de que los demás empiezan a sentir que están experimento la misma acción reiteradamente, pues, aunque se repita ese momento (porque ni siquiera es un día), sus consciencias y recuerdos permanecían intactos. Tras ello, entre todos buscan idear un plan para saber qué es lo que ocasiona este bucle, como comenzó y solucionarlo.

Sin embargo, al ser un tiempo muy corto para hacer las cosas, esto conlleva al desespero, frustración de algunos personajes; vemos como cada uno actúa de manera diferente ante este suceso que borra todo el esfuerzo logrado en ese tiempo. ¿Serán capaz de romper ese bucle? ¿Qué lo ocasionó?

# Opinión personal

La idea del bucle y que sea en un lapso muy corto realmente me gustó, porque se notada el desespero de los personajes y los conflictos que afrontaba cada uno, lo que no hacia que se sintiera monótona la trama, pues las escenas son bastantes fluidas. Mi problema radico en el humor poco balanceado que se sintió, aunque algunos les gustó, pues en lo personal me chocaba, creo que hubiese sido mejor manejarlo desde el suspenso y la desesperación, hacerla como más psicológica ¿si me explico?

Otra de las cosas que tampoco me gusto, además del romance innecesario (me gusta, pero en este estilo de película no la prefiero o la hubiesen manejado mejor) fue el final, el como resolvieron el conflicto y el elemento que lo ocasionaran, creo que les faltó más ingenio en desarrollar este climax de la historia sinceramente. No obstante, debo acotar que su originalidad no puede ser dejada a un lado, porque es atractiva de cierta manera y el mensaje que explora es cautivador, en referencia a como las rutinas llegan a ser un gran inconveniente, el cómo debe haber una necesidad de cambios para avanzar y superar adversidades, más cuando el destino no está escrito aún.

En cuanto a la ambientación, fue la acertada, se sentía ese misticismo en las escenas y los actores no es como que las mejores interpretaciones del mundo, pero cumplieron el cometido. Aun así, si tiene sus grandes fallas y de verdad tiene un elemento atractivo y de mucho potencial.

-Una ambientación que además de hermosa, genera mucho misticismo.

-Un ritmo adecuado y que no agota.

# Puntos negativos…

-El humor pudo ser manejado de otra forma.

-Un mejor final, o en su desarrollo.

Lo interesante de esta película es que realmente fue bien recibida, aun así, si siento que le faltó algo más, una trama mejor envuelta y con sorpresas inesperadas, o soy yo la única exigente 🤔. Aunque admito que es entretenida, pero no la vería una segunda vez, lo que me lleva a preguntarles ¿Cómo creen que se sentirían en un bucle de solo 2 minutos?
